How to slaughter a CV23
« on: February 21, 2013, 04:14:24 PM »
You think you've seen it all?
Are you sure about that?
This might be the worst thing I have ever seen being done to a Glastron...
And I've seen many people try to destroy the beauty of a Carlson...

Nah I think you got something wrong.. The James Bond boat was a HT not a RE.. The difference is HardTop and RedneckEdition.. Hahaha

Many new Ideas I never thought of. Now I will have to change my whole design and layout. Thanks Greg

I am thinking a little taller wing though that way I can hang a hammock.   Or so there would be something to hang me and a noose from if I did it.
I think this has become an addiction.

Poor thing. I hope who ever towed that home is going to correct it or maybe they liked it that way because it is a "special James Bond" addition.
I wonder if the mount for the "kicker" motor was because they used it for fishing or because there is no out drive.
IMO, if there is one thing a CV23 doesn't need is added height. It really makes the bow look low, pointy and flat.
Tragic!

Nice to know that the redneck race exists worldwide.  Poor little CV23.

I guess I'm just not seeing as much as what everyone else is seeing. Maybe it's just that I'm more familiar with the CVX design more so than the CV's - but I'm not seeing the "redneck" part. It's obviously not the same as the CV series originally, and I can certainly understand the personal "shamefulness" of changing a beloved design - like when I've seen some weird things done to a CVX or GT that I'm more familiar of...but when I look at this boat I see relatively flowing lines and even something that a radar could possibly be mounted to if a person wanted - it kind of reminds me of a smaller version of some of the larger cruisers we see during the Red Wing event.

As I said - maybe I'm just not looking at it right (or at least the same) and it's not the style of boat that I would necessarily want to personally own (especially as a speed boat) - and even I can admittedly see that it doesn't keep to the "true" Carlson CV design plus adds "a bit much" to the height...but I'm not seeing a "Red Neck raft made out of 55 gallon drums" either. Sorry - must be just me...   :)

I'd pull that little puppy home in a minute, and be tickled to do it, I think it's kinda cool looking, I've been called redneck before, don't bother me a bit.

As far as I figuered out the entire piece of crap that has been build up top is made from Aluminum. So there is a slight chance to take it all off and only close the 500 holes that were drilled to screw it together.
Did I mention that it has a toilett in the "downstairs" area?........

I'd like to see some interior shots. Hopefully, the toilet isn't made from plywood with the hull used for the holding tank.
I've seen worse that's for sure and I'd pull it home too, for the right price, real cheap.
One advantage to one like this is you might not struggle with the thought as much, cutting it up and making it into something totally custom, like you would with a pristine version. I dont think I'd ever try to bring it back to original which frees you up to do whatever.

You know what they say about one person's "crap" (no reference to the "toilett" he mentioned) being another person's treasure.    :P

Unless the pictures don't reflect its real condition, I'd be willing to bet that "build up top" would be sellable to someone.   :)

Although this mod is brutal,  I witnessed worse terrors done to a CV-23 when, on the national site, I came across a mod where a guy transformed a CV-23 into an open bow vessel (sorry too painful to look for the link).  At least you could undo these "improvements", whereas the open bow work was like painting over the Mona Lisa.

Funny, I'd love a bow rider CV-23 with a small walk through cabin.  I really liked that boat.

The open bow CV27 in orange is still for sale ...
We all have our likes and dislike ...
I remember the CV23 open bow ... Think Chris (Hotwired) found it, posted on the CGOA site ...
Didn't save any pictures ....
