MC1 Pre-Alpha Drive - How much oil?

Hi - I just had my outdrive resealed and asked them to leave the oil out (since I have a few bottles of quicksilver laying around). When I went to pick it up, they had a charge for 3 lube at $20 each. They adjusted it and removed that amount from the bill, but does it really take 3 qts? I thought it was a hair over 1? I have 2 qts to fill it with and want to know if I need more.

And reason it needed to be resealed (besides being old) when I changed the impeller, the shaft hit the lower seal in the upper and tore it. Leaked down the shaft and out of the weep hole.

$20 a quart seems pricey even for full synthetic, but Joe is correct, a bit over a quart.
