Dash rebuild(2)
« on: March 02, 2017, 07:22:51 PM »
Trying a new dash for 2017.

Faria Pro Red gauges over a Black/Red Silver carbon fiber weave, will be going to Express Composites for direction on correct clear resin or gel for the material and using CNC milled dash back plate made with huge help from rheine.

2016 dash was great, red LED backlight, and red flake.  let's see how this one turns out.

without tearing anything apart, does anyone know the AMP ratings for the breakers in the dash?  I need new ones for this dash,  old ones faded.   Thanks!

Thank you,   I found good info and a great diagram in there.  There were not any values on the breakers(fuses) for AMPs indicated though.  I am still looking for the AMP ratings for these circuits.   I know the value for acc /acc.  It's whatever your acc is.

Really looks great!   May I ask a couple of questions?   Is the baseplate milled from ABS or aluminum?  Is it safe to assume an epoxy resin was used for the carbon fiber?  I may have to borrow your idea when it comes time for my project.

Question for everyone, I notice a bit of patina on the back side of the gauges/connections,  likely never be an issue, but is there a product(spray) that can be applied to make the wiring, switches, and gauges to make them waterproof?  in the electronics world its called a conformal coating, but I've never seen a product made specifically for marine use.

Nice can’t wait to see the cf in the boat - I am planning the same for my cvx16 - I went for Intellitronix gauges can’t wait to get them in although that is going to be the icing on the cake so a way off yet!

The base plate is cnc milled. the multi-talented rhiene made the CNC file from prints I did off the original part. I had 10 dash plates made, 5 solid black ones done in 3/16" PVC and 5 clear polycarbonate 1/4" ones.   I had the carbon fiber done for me at ocarbon (ocarbcon.com), so I don't know for sure if epoxy or other.  The red one is a sandwich, black back, red metal flake wrap, clear top.

In time for the meet, the red carbon fiber dash is installed and working great.  These gauges seem more responsive that the last set.  Especially the trim and fuel.

Looks fantastic.  Do the gauges seem more responsive due to age or manufacturer?
