Friday Show:

Lots of traffic. It was fun to watch the show attendees walk up to the display, get a big smile and say, "I remember grandpa had one of these at the cabin!"  (Grandpa??)

Met Terry the Glastron company guy. Been with Glastron since 1973. Is now the company unofficial historian and sales rep. Showed off the new limited edition GT-160. Sweet boat. Four versions, only 55 of each and serial numbered. About $25k and water ready. Said he wants us to be located by the Glastron display next year.

Several comp tickets available if you need one.

Everyone did a great job. Display looks outstanding. Sat is suppose to be the BIG day. This should be a 'must do' every year for the club to raise awareness and new members.

Thanks for the update. I can't wait for tomorrow! Hopefully the boat show let's us come back for free again, if not maybe it would be in glastron's interest to pay for us to be next to them.

I had a great time at the show last night. The set up looks even better in person. A lot of people with memorys of Glastrons from their youth. Several ex-dealers have stopped by too with interesting storys.
If we do this again and its possible, being next to or intermingled with the new Glastrons would be cool. Looking forward to being able to walk around some today and check out some of the unaffordable/overpriced boats there.  :o
I have a feeling that any non members who are planning on selling a Glastron and have now discovered us will be raising the prices of their boats. :P
PS, A reminder to Jeff to talk to Jason about Express Composites.

Thanks for all the effort.  The booth looked really good.  I spent some time checking out the new Glastrons and spoke with Terry as well.  There is a high desire to have the CGOA included with Glastron at next year's event.  There's no question that 40 year old boats looking as good as the one's in the CGOA booth will provide immeasurable marketing value to the new Glastrons ... every salesman is going to say "Look how good our boats hold up after 40 years."    ...  If I were running G'tron's marketing department, I'd sure consider picking up the tab for an adjacent booth just to guarantee placement & not wait to see if the show is giving next year's space away.

It was nice to meet the guys that were there.  Thanks again.

A big thank you to all those who made the CGOAMN exhibit possible this year on late notice. Jason for major work on his V-172, Sean for overseeing the whole operation, for Amy who cut out the white letters and other things, for those who got Scott's boat ready, for others who got their boats in shape, for those who hauled their boats to and from the Mpls Convention Center, for those who manned the exhibit, for Brain B who had the initial contact, and many others not mentioned here by name.

If we have advance notice of our inclusion in next year's show, more boats would be available for selection. We have enough mint condition Glastrons to show 5 new ones next year. We could sell Glastron calendars and T-shirts and post pictures of the each member's boat.

Sunday night...

Got our boats out FIRST. The show people were great and our location was, "Let's get that Glastron display out first!" My wife sweet talked her way through 3 security people even the one who said, "Lady, everybody wants to be first in line!". But he let her through and we were out by 6pm. (Most boats take hours to get out.) Many thanks to Shawn and Brian for getting my boat to the show to start with.

I'm in the house now after spending an hour with a garden hose outside and 20 degrees with my wife holding the flood light to hose down the boat and trailer after 60 miles of road slop. 007 is ready to go back to winter sleep time!

Everyones excited about next year and the chance to do something with Glastron Inc. The space we had is worth $4,500 but the show people recognize that the exhibit was a crowd pleaser and hopefully will want us again. If we continue to add to the show visitor's experience, we may well get to come back on a pro-bona basis and hopefully next to the new Glastrons.

It was a pleasure to work with all of you.

Glyn and Cindy Thorman

PS: I seem to have acquired a battery charger and (now this is really strange) a DVD remote that was laying behind our car in the driveway! Let me know if you are the owner of either.

We might also consider an antique summer boat show in conjunction with other groups. Alot less work with a summer show. Actually, we have the summer boat show in Red Wing, but we might have certain hours in which the boats are on display (in the water and out of the water) and the owners nearby to answer quesions. Just some thoughts.

It was a great show.  I wish I could have spent more time down there, as there just isn't enough time to see everything you want to see.

Many thanks for all the help, and a huge thank you to Jim B. for hauling my boat home last night in the slop and getting it back safely in the garage.  I would probably still be taking runs at the driveway if it wasn't for Jim.  I think I speak for all in the club, that Jim is an outstanding person in every way.

That would work. I still can't figure out how that remote was laying on the driveway, unscathed.

(I'm home Friday/Sat/Sun this week then gone for two weeks.)

Hey Guys,

Very, very cool!

We had somewhat the same experience in Europe last winter. We had the privilege to show three boats at the Hanseboot Show in Hamburg, Germany.
We also had space for free and Aaron made the stand.

I can say we had the same kind of responses from the people. Some said it was the nicest thing of the show.
The organization promised us a larger area on a better location for next year.
I don't have many fancy pictures, but here are some for an impression.

Hey, Cor!

Welcome from Minnesota.  It's nice to see your boat again.  When I need a fix, I'll watch your video to hear that Olds rumble.

I hope your event was as fun as ours!

Hi,

It was a very nice event, but yours was bigger and more audience as seen on the photo's. But it's great to learn that many people don't really like to look at all the new stuff stacked together on the show and saw these Carlson's as something totally different and cool.

I can't wait for the summer to arrive again and hear the Bigblock come alive! It's a Chevy 454 though instead of an olds. ;)
