Hi all, new member/owner from N. Branch MN, I recently purchased a 1983 cvx-16. The boat functions, but will be undergoing a restoration come winter. I'm sure I will be on here asking questions.

Welcome.
Post a few pictures when you can, your in the right place. Sounds like a good plan, enjoy the boat this summer and tinker on it over the winter.
This will get you started:

Right now, I'm trying to get everything mechanical working correctly. There's been years of neglect. The floor is soft, and the transom has a small crack, although it feels fairly solid. It has an 88hp evinrude on it, I just got done adding power tilt and trim to it. The fastest I've gotten it to go is 43mph gps (before tilt and trim was added) with a 23p omc prop. I will be splitting the hull this winter and doing a ground up restore. Eventually I'd like to add a bigger motor, but for now I want to get it rock solid, so I will probably use the 88 for a couple more years.
