Good place to watch fireworks from the Glastron?
« on: June 25, 2017, 10:58:13 AM »
So does anyone know the good spots to watch the fireworks from the boat around the cities? I'd be trailering down from the St Cloud area so I imagine places like grays bay on Minnetonka will be full at 8 Am haha. I have no problem paying a few $ to park and launch if that opens it up at all. I just found out I have the whole week off so maybe even a hotel with docks but I think I'm kinda late to that idea.... Anyway thanks for suggestions if you have any.

We use to watch them in down town St. Paul on the Mississippi. If you get lucky you can tie up to the dock at Harriet island. Otherwise you just anchor.
The St. Croix river in Stillwater is nice too (very little current up there also) but you'll want to launch plenty early to get a parking spot at the ramp. Either way, bring a good spot light for the trip home!

I'm sure you are aware of it but St. Cloud puts on a good show. If u can find your way around on the Mississippi and park your boat between Hester and Wilson Parks that would be a great view.

Another one in the area is the Annandale fireworks. Find your way onto Pleasand Lake next to town and park out about 100 yards from the south shore and you will see a good show as well. And with the added benefit of a fish bowl lake and no obstacles to ding your lower unit in the dark finding your way back to the public access. They have always had a carnavil atmosphere around as well with food, rides, and the Crowning of the Queen of the Lakes that night just off the lake too.

Treasure Islands fireworks are on the 3rd.

Also if you are going out in a boat to watch. Be careful. I went out on White Bear Lake to watch them once. I would never do it again.  There were so many people after they were over driving fast, when there is hardly any light. I almost got hit a few times.  Waves were pretty bad as well depending what size boat you have. Last the boat launch was a nightmare. You think people have trouble putting their boat on the trailer in the light hours, its twice as bad at night.
I think this has become an addiction.

Thanks oldfishguy. I'm kinda new to the neighborhood of cloud. I didn't know you could put a boat in South of the Sartell dam. It's a 20.5' Glastron with an i/o and I've already been to the prop shop twice this year Hahaha. However pleasant down in Annandale is a good one. Thank you

Good advice fireman. Where I used to live in rural SW MN, a big crowd on our lake to watch the show was maybe 7 boats and 5 of them lived in the lake so the landing was a breeze, but I understand 100% where you coming from.

I used to live in the Marshall Area. Balaton (lake Yankton) was where I would take the Glastron for years to watch the show. Great show for such a small town

Nice!  I grew up in Winthrop, and we had farmland over in Amiret for a while, so I've been to the area.  Looked as SW Minnesota St as a potential college too.
