" Sounds like a good idea. "
Yep ... Sounds good ...
Is it "In water" or "in a parking lot" ?

Pat, The Classic Glastron Assn. of MN is talking about a club display of maybe up to 10 boats. I know your area is limited, but we could all be together in a tight group. I had a boat in the show 2 years ago in the rain, and planning on it again this year. Let me know what you think.
Jerry Gilkeson
Hi, Jerry,
Absolutely - we can plan to put them all together. As a matter of fact, let me suggest something else. Bringing in that many Glastrons would be a good opportunity to note them as our Featured Boats for 2014. I would promote that in the press releases that we send out and we would include a photo and description on our 2014 Boat Show Program. How does that sound? Maybe you could come up with a photo that we could use.
When you say " .... 2 years ago in the rain, and planning on it again this year" I hope that will leave the rain part out!

There ya go guys, let's do it!

Where is it located in WBL ?

Yep. I'm excited!! I'll bring both of mine.

White Bear Lake Classic & Vintage Boat Show
Hello Boaters,
After an incredibly long winter the spring of 2014 is finally underway and so are our plans for the 9th Annual White Bear Lake Classic & Vintage Boat Show. This year’s show is scheduled for Saturday, June 28th, from 10 am to 4 pm on Lake Avenue at the White Bear Shopping Center. The Boat Show is a flagship event in White Bear’s annual Manitou Days.
Our Boat Show will begin this year with the optional Skipper's Dinner on Friday evening, June 27th. Join us for an evening of great BBQ and live entertainment on the lakeside patio of historic Tally's Dockside/CG Hooks Eatery. The Boat Show will include on-land boat displays, outboard motor displays and the popular Nautical Swap Meet with collections of boat parts and boating memorabilia that will be available for purchase. There will be food vendors, live music and the Arts and Crafts Fair with its 25 displays by local artisans. We expect a crowd of people all day long.
The Boat Show can accommodate 75 boats in the on-land Lake Avenue display. Because of the low water level of White Bear Lake there will be no in-water boat displays again this year. There is no entry fee to display a boat or to participate in the Nautical Swap Meet. There is a $25 fee per person for the optional Skipper's Dinner. The Show is not a formally judged event. However, trophies will be awarded in several categories, including the People’s Choice Award, Favorite Inboard, Favorite Outboard, Favorite Sailboat and Favorite Row/Paddle Boat.
There are two attachments with this email: the Registration Form and the Boat Show Schedule of Events. The Registration Form for the White Bear Boat Show is also located on the BSLOL website under Event Calendar. Print, complete and mail in your registration as soon as possible.
More information, including a Map with Driving Directions and the Organizational Plan for the day of the Boat Show will be mailed out as we get closer to June.
If this is a return visit to White Bear Lake, welcome back and thanks for your support in the past. If you are new to the Boat Show this year, welcome! See you in June.
Please contact me with questions, comments or suggestions.

Wow that sounds like fun. That's the day were having a 50th Wedding Anniversary party for my parents. And it's at my house, so I kinda gotta be there! ;).........LOL
-
It's too early for me to commit but I would likely bring down one of the two boats.
-
I'll commit to bringing the CVX-16

I put it on my calendar, I would say it's a most likely at this point

I hope to have the 23 done by then but not sure.
-
Sounds fun to me.
Are our boats "vintage" enough?
-
Let me know if you need boats for the show I can probably dig one up somewhere. I might have to have a buffing and waxing party for the Scimitar or Corinthian the week before though. I need smaller boats, there less work. Too bad Glastron Carlson never made a 10-12 footer, Spring cleaning would only take an hour.

Hi, Jerry,
Just checking in to see if there is an update on the Glastron Association's participation in our White Bear Boat Show. Here is a link to our new website that we just launched a week or so ago. It will provide more background information on our show for your guys. You will see that I mentioned you as our Featured Boats for this year. I hope that is OK with you.

Jerry, pencil me in for the White Bear Boat Show. We have crowds coming to us that appreciate classic boats, it happens in the summertime, and secret WBL is only 8 miles down the road.
Let me know if the application form should be sent to you or to someone else.
David

Looks like we better show up now ...

I'm supposed to have my boat back by then, so if you have room for me, I'll join you.
-
Can you bring them both Tom?
-
That might be a little tough.
-
Dang! I really wanted to go to this but I think thats the weekend we'll be in Lake City sailing with some friends. :(
-
You all need to let Pat know you're coming. He's putting the Glastron logo on the stuff for the show. This is what I got today.
Jerry
Outstanding !! Thanks, Jerry. Is there a Glastron Association logo or web link that I can include in the email reminder or on our website?

Does this all have to be done via snail mail or can it be done "electronically"? I dont see a way.

Hello Boaters,
We are a few days away from the 9th Annual White Bear Lake Classic & Vintage Boat Show. All details have been finalized and we are ready to go.
Plan your trip to the White Bear area to arrive between 8:00 am and 9:30 am. The show officially starts at 10 am. The hours of the show are 10 am to 4 pm.
Important travel information: Highway 61 is under construction from the White Bear Shopping Center through downtown White Bear Lake. The best route for boaters coming from out of town is to come north about 3 miles on Highway 61 from Interstate 694 to the intersection with White Bear Avenue. You will know you are getting close when you pass Polar Chevrolet (very large polar bear statue) and then drive past Goose Lake, which will be on both sides of the highway. The White Bear Avenue intersection is at the beginning of the construction area on Highway 61. A landmark at this intersection is the Wells Fargo branch bank that is in front of you on the right side. Turn right on White Bear Avenue and drive past Kowalski's Market. Boat Show personnel will be there to direct you into the Boat Show staging area where we will move boats and displays into place as quickly and efficiently as possible. Vehicles should then be moved into the parking lot of the Shopping Center. Once in position, please go to the Boat Show Information Tent on Lake Avenue where you will receive you registration packet. The packet contains the display card for your boat or display, a 2014 commemorative sticker, the 2014 boat show poster and several other items and pieces of information. Go to the "Contact" tab on our Boat Show website for a Google map of the area.
Here is the schedule for the day:
8:00 - 9:30 Boats arrive and are placed along Lake Avenue
10:00 - 4:00 Boat Show + the Art Fair at the White Bear Shopping Center
3:15 Awards presentation on the deck at Admiral D's
4:00 Show ends
There will be a number of food and drink options at the show. Food will be available at Admiral D's Waterfront Tavern, Tally's Dockside/CG Hooks BBQ, Taco Johns, Kowalski's Market and Sam Thai restaurant.
Captain Jack Sparrow is coming up from the Caribbean to spend the afternoon with us.
If you have any questions, please contact me by email or at my mobile number below.
See you Saturday,
pat

I'm ready.

Look GREAT Dave !
I'm bring my boat cover ....
-
Lets hope it does not rain on our parade.
-
It might be one of those "Murphy's Law" things if ya bring the cover ya won't need it. Maybe I'll throw mine in too. Don't forget your lawn chairs. Maybe I'll throw the tent in too.
-
" It might be one of those "Murphy's Law" things if ya bring the cover ya won't need it. "
I mean to hide my boat, because Dave boat looks so much better !
Yes ... If you have a tent/shelter cover please bring it ...

Funny...
I was thinking the same thing
-
Joe
Maybe put a "Before" sign on our boats and a "After" sign on Dave's boat ...
LOL
Little bit of rain won't hurt my boat, I'm worried about me ... I'm so sweet I could melt ...
-
Shrink would be good.

Would they let us put up a canopy? I think mine requires stakes. Might be difficult in asphalt?
-
My boat cover is old and does not keep out rain. I used it to cover the V-153 outdoors during the time I was selling it (the CVX-16 was in the garage) and whenever it rained the V-153 had buckets of water in the boat.
A thin plastic cover under the regular boat cover might work, or just a plastic cover if the wind is not too strong.
If the weather looks like it is turning bad, think I'll hook up the boat and head home.
Just think what the Back to the 50's people think about their cars when it rains at the state fair.
-
My phone (which is never right) says "No Rain" until 3:00 this afternoon ...
All systems are "GO" ...
-
I agree. Come and then leave when it looks threatening rain.
-
Looks like the weather may hold off??? Good luck and I am sure that all your boats will look good.
Have fun

The CV19 is owned by the guy I'm talking to in this picture ...
Local to WBL and knows and visits our site.
Sorry I don't remember his name ...
He repainted it, removed the jet and motor (454 I think) and put in a stern drive with raised X dimension coupled to a Chevy 350 vortec head create motor. Hasn't done interior yet ...
He's done some very nice work on the CV19 ...
Got to meet Dave (oldfishguy) ...
Was nice to meet you ...Hope to see ya out on the water before Red Wing !
Was nice to see every one again ...
Didn't take any pictures ... because Jason did ... LOL
-
Kind of funny ...
Instead of thousands of hard water spots on boat after a day on lake/river ..
There's thousands of finger prints on boat !
-
Great pics guys, thanks for sharing. The national level of ACBS is pushing local chapters to include Fiberglass construction within their ranks, looks like y'all did a great job "representing"! (I don't care about being "judged" personally, but it's always fun to get together with other classic boating enthusiasts.) ;)
-
At the awards presentation the "Grand Pubar" of the show, thanked all the plastic & tin boat owners for coming and stated they were the future of collector boats/boat shows.
The winner was the Car-aqua ( Mr. VanEmmits, not sure of spelling) which was near perfect ... with a very cool hyd. trailer the raised and lowered with a hand pump on front.
-
Del VanEmmerick The other guy was Chauncy ? Del won the "Outboard class" and "best of show" We will keep shoving "plastic boats" up their wooden butts till they get to like it. I did trade a beat-up pair of "White Bear" water skis for a almost new pair of Lund skis that match my boat. You always meet new and interesting people at boat shows.

Kind of funny ...

Gregg, the funny (sad) part is that my boat had few fingerprints on it.
The boat with the most fingerprints on it wins the award.

Hi Ross!
Sorry I missed you at the White Bear boat show, but as a columnist for The Timberjay Newspapers, featuring vintage boats of the North, I would like to feature your boat in an up coming column.
When I get enough columns, I intend on publishing a book entitled ,Vintage Boats of Minnesota...and their Stories.
If interested, send me your story as a Word.doc and your picture as a JPEG.
I am attaching a sample column here so you can get an idea as to format.
I hope to hear from you!

Hi Bob
I would be interested in sharing my story which you can feel free to edit as you please however, mine is not a wooden boat. It is a fiberglass Glastron and we were invited to take part in the White Bear Boat show this year. I also do not have any good pictures of my boat in the water as of yet. The boat is also not pristine by any measure. Its a work in progress with the motor and electrical being the priorities over aesthetics.
I will work on the story and hopefully get some decent pictures of it in the water in the next few weeks.
Thanks, Ross for responding! I will look forward to your story when ready, and tell your members to send theirs too!
Bob

Dave got one yesterday ,,,
I got one today ...

I got one too

Jason, guess he does not have taste buds for pickles.

Jason ...
How many times do I have to tell you ...
Keep your rear trim pieces shiny !
Bet you get one latter today or tomorrow ...

Yes, I think everyone will get one, but the better way for Bob to do it, in my opinion, would be to visually inspect the boats he would like to publish and notify these owners.
