Title: SOLD ..1986 CVX16 To-Be-For-Sale-Soon.. SOLD
Post by: cvx16 on March 26, 2018, 02:05:00 PM
I have a '86 CVX16 that I'll be looking to sell soon.  I had it out for a wash and wax yesterday and completely forgot to take pictures. Doh! I took a quick video of the motor running for someone and attached a screen grab from that here to give an idea of the color.  What's the going price for these now?  I haven't really been paying attention to the forum in a number of years.  Boat is in pretty good condition, but not perfect.  Gel coat and metal flake is still nice and shiny, but has knicks & dings.   Motor runs well.   Trailer is decent and I put new LED lights and wiring on the trailer a couple years ago.

Moved out to San Diego about 6 yrs ago, so that's why it hasn't been seen on the Mississippi in recent years.   I've been toying with the idea of bringing it back for the Glastron meet one of these years, but that would have to be a one way trip, with a buyer lined up ahead of time if I did that.

Again, I'll post more pictures, probably this coming weekend, but any thoughts on what these are going for?

Thanks guys!

Is this your boat at the Glastron meet in 2011?

That looks like me in the first picture you posted Dave! Pretty nice boat. Looks to be original. I'd guess 4-5K range...

I think someone was looking for this boat not too long ago. I have no idea who but it was either on here or facebook. Could be an easy sale.

I viewed this CVX-16 the year before buying my CVX-16. $4,000 to $5,000 seems to be in the ballpark. I paid less than this for my CVX-16, but mine needed some hull and skeg work. The price depends on what repairs needs to be done - floor, stringer, carpet, upholstery, transom, gelcoat, etc.

Thanks all!   If anyone knows of someone interested, please let me know.   It's going to be hard to let go, but would ease the pain to sell it to a fellow Glastron head.   We're looking to do some saltwater boating and don't want to use the Glastron for that.   Unfortunately, time to move to something different, along with reclaiming some space in my garage.    :D

Planning to take it to Lake Havasu in a couple weeks.  If anyone knows of any Glastroners in the area there, please let me know.

Thanks,
Jeremy

I'll be hitting the Havasu Boat Show while there in a couple weeks and I just noticed Carlson-Matise is on the exhibitor listing.   Can't wait to check them out.   I wonder if they have a trade-in or owner loyalty discount program?    ;D

Say Hi to John Carlson. He was the perfect salesperson demonstrating the boat and telling the history of Glastron/Carlson. The Carlson-Matise boat goes for $100,000.

Was looking thru brochures ...
Could you post serial numbers for boat and motor ?
Seats don't match up to 1986, looks like a 1987 CVX.
But could just be a late 1986 ... Numbers will tell for sure.

I agree with Dave's estimate on price ... Start high.
List in a few local city's around you.

1985 / 1986 / 1987 / 1988 CVX16's

Thx for images.  I should match the 86.  Previous owner broke off the seat headrests.  I have them still.  Seatbacks are easier to sit up on without the headrests.

The 1986 had the head rests, but not the 1987's, although mine has them. The best way is to look at the serial number. The 1987's had three colors of pinstriping which the 1986's did not have.

I got a quick shot of the HIN while grabbing a beer in the garage.  Couldn't get to the OB easily, so that will have to come later...(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180331/149adade9f93a52624ed7eab5767a018.jpg)

Shouldn't it start with "GCV" ?

Although... After looking closer it does look like the 4th from last digit on the title is wrong.  "8" instead of a "B".  Argh.

Looked it up ...
WOW ... This is weird !

GLA = Glastron
GCV = Glastron Carlson
CNO = Conroy Ind.

Anyone's Glastron between 84 & 92 have a different HIN prefix?

My Timi says Grastron on my title, because the boat registration said that from NY.  Can't argue with the DMV.

Looks like my boat was originally a California boat.  Had no idea I was bringing it back "home".(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180331/4379d22b476f2814bd42a049dbd75956.jpg)

Looks like Glastron and Conroy have been together since 1967.

My 86 CV23 is CNO. Probably just depends on which factory it came out of. Looks like Jeff's 87 CVX18 is also CNO.

More good Glastron HIN info:

Carlson-Matise was a no-show at the Havasu boat show.  I'm bummed.

Refreshing this thread as the time has finally come to get serious about selling this boat.  The information in the beginning of the post is still accurate.  The boat is currently located in the San Diego area.  We just don't hardly use it anymore and time to get a boat that we'll actually take in saltwater.

If anyone knows of someone looking for a boat like this, please let me know.  Interested in a quick sale, although not desperate to sell.  My preference is to sell to someone that will appreciate the boat and am willing to negotiate accordingly.

Thanks all!

-Jeremy

Cool, thanks!  Mine isn't mint, but it's certainly in very good shape.

I'd prefer to sell this to someone in the upper midwest area, but getting it back there certainly is a challenge.  Although, not out of the question...

The thought crossed my mind for sure.  Looking to get something newer that we'll actually put in the saltwater in San Diego.  Probably won't go Glastron, but still thinking about it!
