Classic Glastron Show at Marina in 2011?
« on: July 25, 2010, 01:58:40 PM »
My wife and I went to the car show at the Mermaid Resturant in New Brighton after church today. I was really impressed with the craftsmanship. Liked the 1955, 1956, 1957, 1958,1959,1961 and 1964 Chevs, the Plymouth GTX, the red 1955 Buick convertable, and  the 1932 Fords. Talked with the owner of a orange 1969 Plymouth Barracuda with roll bars, wide rear tires, gutted interior and mint condition. Engine is putting out over 1,000 HP and he races it in 7 states, covering the quarter mile in the high 8 seconds. And he drives it every day. Owns a body shop (Steve's Collision) in Blaine and the car is used for advertising. The whole family is involved.

My point is that the Glastron club could do this at a marina in the Twin Cities next summer, and with some advertising, really promote the Glastron name. But we would need a committment of X number of boats to advertise it to the public. Any thoughts?

We did it 2 years at Little Falls. It's fun, but a lot of work. Get it set up David, I'm sure a bunch will show up.

Am I correct in assuming that you are interested in promoting the CGOAMN Club by having the classic glastrons available for viewing?  Although promoting the Glastron brand is fine, I'm sure that their marketing budget covers all the promotion that they are interested in.  The club, and the classic Glastron boat is a differnt story and a very respectable intention.  Don't you agree?

Yes, I mean promoting the classic Glastron boats. This project seems a natural for our group and the summertime at a marina makes sense also. Probably a next year's project. We need to contact marina's convenent to the Twin Cities that have space and are willing to cooperate. I see this not to get new members, but to show off the boats, just as car owners show off their pride and joy. Actually, a community service, so to speak, a cultural event.
