Well preserved specimen
« on: August 04, 2010, 04:42:32 PM »
This was tough to pass up. These don't come along very often. I have some additional pictures that the owner sent me. The seats and logs were almost brand new (Really 50 years old).

Wow, nice.  That 115 seems big for that boat though, doesn't it?

It's sold BTW.  I called this morning to inquire... my brother lives in Ft. Wayne, figured if I decided to buy it, he could store it for me until I could pick up.  Hope it went to a club member/enthusiast who will keep it pristine!

I know... I just got my V-166!   I've got the fever bad.

Here are some pictures of it.  I think its the real deal. I was all set to buy it but got caught up with that 4 letter word (work) and the day got away from me. By the time I got around to finalizing he had sold it. Sold to someone in Ohio. Hopefully its someone that will appreciate what they have.  Can you imagine, 50 years old and in this original condition. Wow!!

Andy, my bad... i misunderstood your first post, thought you were "passing" on the rig, that's why I gave him a call.  Sorry you missed out on that one!

Think you're right. If its a Surflite like mine, its rated for 75 max, I believe.

Thats incredible! Brand new 50 year old boat.
Great, now I have more pic of what the interior could look like.

Opps just re-read the ad. Its a 16' Fireflite.  Thought it looked bigger.
Cool.

I wonder if maybe that isn't really a 16' Starflite. It looks big for a Fireflite and the trim appears to match the Starflite for 1960.

I think you're right.  The 1960 brochure also talks about the 16' Starflight having the unique "lapstrake" hull feature... I can see that on the bottom.
