I personaly can't make the trip and am really bummed about it. Usually everyone is back to the landing by 4pm. The actual ride can't be more than a 5 miles roundtrip so I don't think you'll go through much gas. I would carry at least 2 6 gallon tanks just to be safe. usually people just bring there own lunch (picnic type) food. Sometimes we barbeque, or eat at a resteraunt on the water somewhere. It sounds like this is more of a bring your own snack type thing.

Tell us more about it. Year, engine size, story, ect. Would love to see some pictures too.

Welcome
I am new to the club also.  I bought my first boat last year an EBay/barn find GT160.  Never joined the forum just hung around and met a lot of good people to boat with.  The best parts are show-up and go out with the group.  They will help you load and unload always one person that knows the areas and if a part on your old boat/motor fails someone will tow you (yes its embarrassing but it happens to us all) that?s when you will be glad you are with a group of friends.

Ask questions on the posting for the trip.  Some one that knows the area usually starts the post and acts as the host.  Check the post often times, different boat ramps, start, stop, distance, available gas, eating, or picnic, little cock out after return.  A lot can change.  No one is in charge just a group some go their own way.  If you think you will be starting at a different time or place ask for a cell phone number many or the members are happy to give them out.

After messing around with all you?re other boats, and becoming bored with them, you went back to the old G150, and it is the most fun (great story).  Wish I had an old G150 as a spare.
I just joined the forum a few months ago.  You will get to know the experienced members (trust them).
I offer suggestions just because I am a new member also.
Laine

Wow !! sounds like your a good group of folks ,,we have a place by Remer (Thunder Lake) and spend a lot of time boating and water sports. 6 years ago I had a G- 143 with a 105 Chrysler and it was pretty awesome.then I bought a Hydrastream Vixen and put an 125 ss Merc on it was really a hairy ride, sold it ,I shouldn't have but as I am getting older and my first batch of kids have grown and moved on, am looking for more comfort, alas the GT 150,I have a 105 Chrysler that I had bought at a Goodwill sale and modified the cover to say it was only a 75 horse..lots of fun, great ride and a beautiful boat.It is going thru some restoration now when I have time, can't wait for Sunday...thanks and see ya  P.S. Havn't had much time to tune engine ,so I'll be bringing a strong tow rope :D

The Minnesota river is flooded. You couldn't launch if you wanted to (which I guess is what you crazy guys want to do)

And there will be alot of debris on any of the water ways from the heavy rains yesterday. Unless the speeds are very slow, I would avoid travel on the water this week end.

I tryed dodging debris in the Minnesota River many years ago and ended up with a prop repair.

UH OH! From the Fort Snelling state park web site.

"Visitor Alert!

Due to anticipated river flooding, park facilities and roads are being closed beginning 9-23 through mid-October. River levels are rapidly approaching spring flood stages and extremely dangerous with fast currents carrying debris. Please call the office for park closure information."

Maybe a better weekend for lake Minnetonka?
