Atta boy Mark. You gotta tow job comin'.

Yah thought I might have to alter my plan to include towing yesterday. Was heading south down Lemon Bay and came across a little Bayliner Crappee, er, Capri with a 90hp Farce, er Force. Guy had the cowl off and must've worked some kind of mojo on the motor cuz soon as I circled around he got her fired up. Seemed to be running okay, pumping water, etc.

I cruised next to em for awhile to see if it was gonna keep runnin. It appeared that it was so I said adios & put the hammer down. Eat my plankton ...! Heh heh heh

In all seriousness: Never ever hesitate to offer aid to another boater in distress. Extremely bad 'Karma' if'n ya don't.

Yes, it was a beautiful late model that "looked" pristine.  Apparently the owner (guy sitting at the helm with his head in his hand in the first pic) was trying to sell it, taking the prospective owner and his son on a test ride.  (How's that workin' out?)  He lost interest in the boat and let it sit for over a year, "still shows plenty of gas in the tank on the gauge"!

I actually enjoy helping other stranded boaters, it kinda makes you feel good inside.  Besides, it's a hoot turning the corner coming back to the marina towing a late model with my "antique".  Someday it might be me on the other end of the rope, so I never accept any cash offered for the tow.

Yep, direct drive, but not a MasterCraft... not sure of the brand, looks nice though.  BTW... got a "shocking call" from the Austin dealership yesterday... my MasterCraft may be fixed (after 3 months!), looks like they finally got the windshield on and it will be ready to pick up tomorrow (They say!, we,ll see).  The reason I'm being so skeptical... first windshield was destroyed in shipping, 2nd one the dealership destroyed during installation (more glass all over the boat, screw into it and it cracked/busted), so maybe the 3rd time is the charm.  These companies don't stock these big items anymore (economy?), so when you need one (in this case the front windshield), they have to go to TaylorMade and have one built.  We've gone the whole summer without our MC now.  I'm hopeful this time around it will be fixed right.

Always makes me feel good to help another boater out! I've been on the other end of the rope as well. But, can you say preparation and "test run" before taking a perspective buyer out?... doooohhh.  :)  Atleast put a fake-a-lake on and run it in the driveway beforehand if it's been a year.

Good pics MarkS.

Mark - I hope they get right for you the 3rd time with your MC. Saw a picture of it you posted of it awhile back on a different thread.  Sweet boat and even better is that the whole family gets out and enjoys it! Doesn't get any better than that! 8)

I was always towing people with my Larson Hampton. Not sure what it was with that boat. Most of them had problems that you could have never seen coming.

Kip, all, brought the MC home today. The windshield looked pretty good. They backed something into my trailer though, not real bad, just pushed the fender in the front about an inch from the tire.  They didn't even notice it, or someone didn't want to fess up. They hammered it back out and slapped some paint on it that was running before I could even pull it off the lot. I wiped it off, and told them don't worry about it... I'll paint it myself when I get home.  Took it to a nearby lake to try it out (wanted to know if all the components/gauges still work in dash, since they had to replace it... scratches from the glass).  Other than recalibrating the perfect pass speed control, everything appears to be in order.

One question though....

With the boat in the water, the window was ever so slightly binding at the top (i.e. have to pull outward on center window door to get it to close all the way).  Wasn't doing this on the trailer... result of the hull flexing.  THAT OK?  or will this be an issue down the road?  I'm worried to let them touch it again... might end up worse.  I say keep an eye on it and if it get's worse, address it then.  The work they did should be warranted for atleast a year.

Mark - Maybe someone on the MasterCraft forum could help you w/adjusting the windshield. If it was me I'd be real hesitant to take it back to the same dealer. Write a nice letter to MC. For the kind of money you spent on that boat you derserve a lot better.

I'm with writing a letter to MC.  That dealer sounds like a putz.  I would think if the windshield binds while on the water, you may have a chance of shattering it in rough water. MC may really stand behind their dealer which is a good thing but if the work is not up to standard, well, then MC needs to make a trip to the dealership.

That situation sure gave the prospective buyer some bargaining power!
I was thinking it might be a Ski Nautigue? Well, doesnt matter. Good job Mark! 8)

Thanks Ross, all in a day's fun.  (Mine, not theirs obviously.)  Just got back from the lake a little while ago, snagged another one off the water this afternoon.  An old deep V Correct Craft, whole family aboard, with a "dead battery".  The old Starflite's getting quite a work-out this year, and I'm havin' a ball!  There's not too many boats left out on the water now though, these folks ought to be more careful!

# 4 for the season today, my wife says I need to make this a part time job!

This one was a buddy I ran across on the lake, and besides, I couldn't charge ANYBODY for helping out in a time of need...... ;)
