Anyone know an Aluminum Welder?
« on: October 13, 2010, 08:08:47 PM »
Was backing the boat down the driveway last night when I hit the plastic garbage can with one of the stupid hydrofoils on it which snapped off along with part of the fin. Hydrofoils have been removed now but now I need to get the broken piece welded back on. Is this possible?

My old buddy Roger Sando at Metals Joining Lab in Bloomington can weld anything. He welded my cover for my pick-up yesterday. Give him a call 952 881 5118 Tell him you're a friend of mine.  He's into Bikes not boats. He just bought a 200 Hp BMW with more whistles and bells than my car.

Prop repair shops work mainly with aluminum, repairing props, skegs, and cavitation plates. A close prop shop for you would be the one Gregg suggested, Propulsion Props in Hudson, WI.

http://www.propfix.com/store/home.php

Marks Prop Shop in Stacy, MN repairs props and specializes in welding aluminum. Mark has worked on my bronze props, but he works alot with aluminum on props and for the medical industry.

Either would do good work. Get the holes filled in the cavitation plate from the fins while you are at it.

And get the side of your boat fixed from the ATV accident in your garage this spring. LOL
