CV23 or CV27
« on: February 09, 2011, 01:18:04 PM »
Ran out for lunch today and just happened to pass what may be a red and white CV23 hardtop or a CV27.

I know that sucker looks big on the trailer and it's pretty darn tall. Right at the edge of the roof of the house. Has a blue poly tarp on it so I could only see the bottom half. I'll have to investigate a bit further. I'm curious.

There is a HUGE difference between the 27 and the 23.  A quick look at the transom will very easily tell you what it is. The 27's all are twin engine.  My 27 sits 9 feet tall on the trailer that would be about eave height.

.. it is what it is ... and that is how it should be!

Next time I'm in that area I'll snap a pic. I know it's older than yours by the way the signature Glastron side marking is on the boat. Looks like the more simple style from the 70's. I couldn't see the outdrives as the stern was covered by the tarp. I could only see about 8 or so feet of the side.

CV 23 it is. Did a drive by at lunch today and the reason it's so tall is the bimini top is up.  Can't see much because of the tarp. It does have a jet drive.  Mystery solved. I've never seen it on the water. Will have to keep an eye out for it.

I did notice at the launch that I frequent that someone has a blue and white Futura just sitting there with two flats and a mess inside the hull. I'm thinking that I might drive over there this weekend and leave a not in a ziploc with my number to see if they want to sell it. Has a '77 model 85 hp Evinrude on the back.

76bayflite,

What is your top end with the 115?  That's the exact motor (should be) that my CVX 16 came with. Mine is model #115799S.  With the OMC SST stainless prop size of 12 3/4 x 21 I get 51 WOT with me (190) battery and gear (60) and full tank (17 gal).  I know one thing, the torque on that motor is like an old Chevelle or GTO.
