I am having a bit of a problem with the anchors in the floor for the engine cover hinges. From what I can tell, they are the kind of anchors that have some teeth on the top flange to dig into the wood and keep them from rotating. Down below the floor is a part that is threaded and as you tighten the screw, it would colapse the "wings" on the anchor and prevent it from coming back out the hole. Problem is, they were installed after the carpet and when I tore it out, it disloged the flange and now a couple of them are spinning and no longer want to bite into the floor. If I try to remove them to replace them, I am going to end up with a larger hole and have to patch it and patch it good enough to install new anchors, or get by with two of the four kind of holding or try to bond them into place. Any suggetions?
One hinge is broken too so best case, I'll have 3 screws holding it down.
