Color pattern
« on: May 24, 2011, 10:39:03 AM »
Is this color pattern (aft, down on the sides) specific to Glastrons or was it (or others like it) used by other companies too? (pic borrowed from classifieds forum)

That is the Glaston "G" (when seen from the other side). Maybe it was never meant to be a G but that's how I always took it. Just about every Glastron and Calson has that color scheme. Hammond's also had their own specific color scheme.

We should ask Art Carlson if there was a reason to this look.

I don't know if it's an official name, but it's called the spear.  And every Glastron has it.  At first they pointed forward, but they turned them around after a couple years.

Hey Doug ... off topic but ....  I would not s'pose that is the "repaired" pic of you rig is it???  How's the healing going?   8)  .. referring to both you and the boat. Hope the scrapes and bruises have become memories.
.. it is what it is ... and that is how it should be!

It is definately Glastron specific at least as some point. I have seen models that have no two tone below the rub rail and my 61 does not have that scheme.
Personally, I love it and if it wasnt there, it would be boring. I love how it highlights the crease in the hull, if there is one.

Glastron was the first to figure out how to do a two tone gel.
Don't know what or why the swooch is ... BUT it aint a cool boat unless it's got one !

Go here to read about Glastron's history ...

No that pic would be pre-wrecked Chris, but thanks for asking ...  Shoulder/collarbone's purty much healed up yet still sore. Glass rash healed for the most part. Boat still wrecked but I did begin pulling the rubrail off.

Note: Even if you believe with all your heart that you'll never ever need to take yer boat apart again? Don't 5200 it together ...  Trust me.
