I'm thinking about taking off my rub rail ...
To grind out some of the dock rash and buff & shine deck and hull better ...
If I drill out rivits on rear trim pieces, is there any thing back there to screw trim pieces back into or will I have to use rivits ?
Do I need to take off rear trim pieces to get rub rails off ?

We got some pretty impressives results doing Tim's Timmi last Sat. and want to redo mine.

You do have to remove the corner trim pieces to remove the rub rail. I would not use screws to reattach, your talking about the rivits that are facing in a down ward position. If you do use screws you run the chance of going through the finish underneath. There is one screw on the side towards the front of the trim piece that should still be used as that screw keeps the rubber insert tight. be very carefull when drilling out those rivits cause if the driil bit catch's it will go through. I would recommend a drill bit just slightly larger than the rivit head.

Its rather eazy to remove the rub rail, some rub rails are rivited on and some others used screws.
