me and the Fox put in on the Oklahoma river, downtown Okc just before sundown, saw one of the most beautiful sunsets we ever saw, lots of people were already setting off fireworks down there, we anchored in the middle of the river where it's about 100 yards wide, with-in minutes there were Thousands of people busting off fireworks, many of the aerial burst were comercial size, just unbelievable, went on continually for Two solid hours, it was like a boom contest.  I just can't express on here what it was like to set in the middle of all the noise and explosions for Two solid hours, right over our heads.
As Always, there was one group of guy's, teen agers, that thought it would be funny to aim those areials at our boat, several landed burst on and in our boat, the Fox took cover to the front seat, just as one exploded right on the back of our boat sending fire balls on us and in the boat.  I plugged in my 1,000,000 candle power spot light and pointed it right on them, five of them, until they walked away from the river, then I pulled up anchor and moved down river a ways.  There were a few more dummy's, the Okc police were patroling the area and made a few contacts to people that were having roman candle fights.
There was a kayak group of about 40+ boats there also, then some canoe's and small boats also, many of them left that area when the they realized some folks were aiming fireworks towards them, kinda sad that a few bad apple's like that is likely to ruin the the privelage of celebration down there for Thousands of people and their families who play it safe and follow the rules.
All-in-all it was the best 4th I think we have experienced.

That sounds pretty cool, Red - minus the being-a-target part.
Too bad you didn't have a flare gun on board, you could have aimed right back.
I hope everyone enjoyed their 4th of July.

Original plan was to watch fire works from the river but with high water cancelled those plans. Hauled the 23 1.5 hours out to Long Lake WI. Never been there before. Beautiful lake! Found a nice restaurant (props) on the water you could dock at. Boat ran great. 150 with the new thermostat. Repaired power steering cable is silky smooth. Good times!

Hey Jason we have a nice wooded lot on Kunz Island if your interested. Actually me and the 3 boys are going to build a cabin cabin out there someday. That's the plan anyways. Had the CVX18 parked at Props a couple of times. Thats the south tip of Kunz in your last picture taken at Props.

Has been a great weekend at magnor...
My daughter Keisha, and my son's girlfriend Katie learns to ski, lots of tubing, used lots of gas.
Had an odd thing happen, there's a giant weed bed on front of the cabin, I accidentally got into it helping my son with the pontoon and the weeds pulled my plug out !
I had extra screw type plugs in the boat, yea!
