Red Wing 2014 Anyone bringing their kids
« on: July 31, 2014, 09:48:05 AM »
Jessica and my self will be there with both of the kids age 6 and 10 and I was wondering if anyone else is bringing their kids with.

Last year there were some but I was just wondering who was all coming with kids this year. I was trying to figure out what kind of things/ activities to bring with for them and was just wondering if there was going to be any other kids.

I think this has become an addiction.

Not sure if they are or not. The whole no boat thing. I have talked to them about using the 195, but we will see.

I'm pretty sure I'll have Liam (7), Ben (6) and Henry (4) with me. There's still some debate on whether they'll come down or not.

I bought one of these and was debating on bringing it with. The kids love playing on it but it is kind of bulky. It would keep them busy on Sat.

I think this has become an addiction.

I'll be kid free.  I got an 'Absolutely not' when I asked for their 2 day pass...not a lot of wiggle room on that one.  LOL.

I think I will have kids (peyton 11, cole14) for Friday, and possibly my 14 year old son on Saturday, but that is probably the extent of my kids being there.  My wife is hoping to come for the Friday sunset cruise, and the overnight (hotel) but she has to work sat / sun.

Teens and Tweens - things change.

I'm in the same boat with Doran(no pun intended).   My son starts Junior year that week, and Mama bear wants to be around to make sure all goes well.   Would luv to be able to bring the fam, but the date doesn't permit.  A bachelor weekend for me........

Should we consider having our annual meet a week or so earlier next year so more family can be involved?

Granted, I'm not in control as much anymore, but if the club were to consider changing the date, you would run into a good deal of problems.  It is my understanding that Island campground does not have space for us on another weekend in August.  Years ago we went through this same type of discussion and found that there really are not easy solutions to please everyone.  Island Campground was the best solution to everything including Tents, RV's, Slips, Access to Hotels, Food Services, Launch Ramps, August Availability, etc...

I have always been an advocate for families in the CGOAMN, and I love to consider what can be done to make everyone happy.  The problem is that I think that anything other than the 3rd weekend of August at Island campground would be very hard to do...

The 'kids in school' thing is an IA/NE issue, so not too much of an issue.  Brian has many good points.  I think we're good where we're at, the weekend is pretty set now, and its on Island Campground's calendar of events, which they build around us, hold reservations up, etc just for us.

I also think we'd lose some day trippers that just tend to show up...
