The Group Meal at TI
« on: June 14, 2015, 08:07:26 PM »
Gregg has hit a snag with trying to pull together a catered group meal.

The short of it is that in order for us to put on the catered meal, we have to sign a contract that includes a 'mitigated damages' clause.  We essentially have to guarantee, with a credit card, TI the sum of $1200.00.  We can't really bring in an outside caterer, but obviously, TI wants our business...

We have essentially 2 options (as far as Gregg and I can figure), we can require prepayment of the meal in full by say 7/20, so we can prepay the full amount for the meal and completely close off any walkups (meal tickets), we can head to the Casino for 'buffet night'...OR we can pull our grills together and do a group grill out where everyone is responsible for their own food, but we still dine together.

We are open to ideas!!!

I vote for a grill out where each family is responsible for their own food.

I personally don't like the prepay idea, b/c if its not able to happen (weather, etc), we won't be refunded...

I say grill. I have a gas grill and a smoker on the boat that are available
I think this has become an addiction.

Gregg - Not everyone has spoken, but I think we can remove this from the to-do list.

Group grill sounds good to us.  I have a couple small gas grills that I will bring and a couple cook tops also.

This has proven to be the hardest part of the planning ...
Guess it's cook out.  I'm OK with that, maybe next year we can figure something out.
Ben has a mid size Weber kettle and I have two propane cook tops.

Isn't that what we do best...cook out and share.

I totally agree...it was nice after a long day of boating to have a hot meal ready.  (That also meant that Bryan didn't get in as much boating that day...)

Although food prep and grilling is a big part of camping, if it takes away from boating time a prepared meal to come back to sounds like a great idea.  I'll have the grill anyway so either way is ok with me.

We're pretty much set on the 'Grill your own' plan right now, unless someone wants to offer up their credit card (and handle) the group meal.  At the end of the day, it just makes sense from a risk and a financial standpoint.
