Since funds are very tight, I was unable to get the transom completed on the CVX 23 this year but I need something to work on so I pulled the 67 V174 into the shop. First time its been inside in the 3 years I have owned it.
Wow, very rotten floor and stringers. I was able to remove much of the floor by hand, no tools required.
I also pulled the motor, transom assembly, gimble assy, main wire harness and control cables. The remaining wiring is a total redo.
Luckily, the transom doesnt seem too rotten. I am hoping I can by with it the way it is or maybe replacing just a portion, like Rich did.
At this point, I do not know how far I will go with it this fall and winter.
When I was crawling around under the trailer trying to get it adjusted better I noticed a crack along one of the strakes. I am sure it is due to the rotten stringers and crappy metal bunks. The trailer will need a lot of love too.
