Custom 2 blade prop, not GC related
« on: September 10, 2017, 04:17:42 PM »
So Tim and I went on an overnight camping/fishing trip with the redneck toon, trip was good, fishing was bad.  We got through some shallow area to beach, but when we went to leave, the motor ran rough, and began to vibrate pretty bad.  Felt different than when they get weeded up.  We keep it slow and finally made it back to the dock.  When we put out, we noticed that we had created a 2 blade prop from a three.  Never hit anything, and it doesn't look like it broke on a weld or anything.  Has this happened to anyone before?  It's a cheapie aluminum prop, and wasn't in the best shape anyway.  I've torn up a few on rocks, but this appears to just have snapped off.

It looks like the prop has been repainted. It could be that the prop was damaged previously and a blade was pounded back into shape, but weakened in the area that bent the most.

I had long planned to put a different, smaller pitch prop on it.  I think this is/was a 21.  On the boat it came from prob went 40mph, the toon is lucky to break low 20's.  My R's sat around 4k at work.  Thought the rude should be  back n the 5500 range?  Notice the custom tilt, idea came from Joe, works fantastic.
