Sad day. We'll miss ya Jerry.

"As we mentioned last night, we were getting ready for Dad to make his final journey. Early this morning Dad passed away. He was surrounded with his family as he took his last breath and left this earth. The wonderful people from hospice came out to talk about the next steps. Now we start the process of making arrangements and getting everything ready. We are all thankful he is at peace and no longer has to fight. We are so amazed and inspired by his epic 2 year 10 month defiance of pancreatic cancer. We will continue to update as the arrangements have been made and once again thank you all for the love and support you have shown us. Love, Dottie, Cheryl, Jennifer and Lisa"

I gave Jerry a ride in my boat a few years back, I said you want to drive, he says sure. So grabs one throttle and starts to take off, I says Jerry you need to push both together Oh Oh , ok. Off we go, he says sure steers easy,  I says because its power steering, Oh, feels like were going faster than 38 mph, Jerry your looking at the tach, Oh Oh, the middle one is the speedo,  are were really going 50 mph ? Yea. What should I do about those big waves coming, I said don't worry about it , keep going your fine. We go across the waves, he looks at me grinning like a raccon, he says this is like driving a car. Good times Jerry, will miss ya.
RIP. Mike

RIP Jerry

I would like to say that it was good to get to know you in the few years I have been into GCs. I am thankful that I was able to see Jerry last December and was able to talk to him while he was still in fairly good health.

Dang...
luv that story Mike, Jerry was an interesting character for sure, he most certainly was a little rough around the edges.
I only knew him for a few years but have to say im better for it, was very cool to hang with an old school motor head who has  spent a lifetime building/fixing and running cool old stuff with cylinders.
speaking of that, i wonder what his "cylinder count" was at its peak.
rest in peace.  :'(

Pancreatic cancer took my uncle in about 3 months after he was diagnosed so it's amazing that Jerry fought it for almost 3 years.

Mike - Great story about Jerry behind the wheel of the CV27.

Rest In Peace Jerry- everytime there's a discussion on a boating forum about regular plywood vs marine grade or epoxy vs polyester resin, i'll think of ya.

I was taken back that Jerry mentioned on this site that his reason for building the GT160 was to beat my CVX-16. I did not know there was competition between us. Really would have been nice if Jerry had completed this project successfully. With the Mercury 1500 Jerry had built up, it was capable of over 60 MPH in my opinion.

Sad news. Even though I never met Jerry in person and knew him only on the forum, I'll miss his knowledge, passion and colorful commentary on all things boating and drag racing. Rest in peace Jerry.

I met Jerry and Dottie at the sand pit, they were riding in Jeff's 23.  Cancer had taken hold, but you could tell he really enjoyed being out on the water and in the sunlight.  I really wished I'd known him in the healthy years, the disease and treatments tend to change peoples behavior negatively.  I went down that road with my father.  I'll miss the stories and decades long experience of racing, hot rods, and boating knowledge he possessed.  May the good  Lord guide and bless the family he left behind.  RIP Jerry

Thanks for the information on the funeral plans Jim! Hopefully Amber and I can get a flower arrangement sent in time on Monday to have it at the visitation.
