Trailer weight
« on: July 30, 2018, 11:37:16 AM »
I have a 2008 DS205 on the Glastron trailer.  Does anyone know the weight of the trailer?  The boat is around 2900 lbs dry so add fuel about 300 lbs max and the boat and fuel rarely tow it full of fuel much farther than a mile or so but to be conservative - is around 3200 lbs.  But wat does the trailer weigh?

Find a local scale or research the model trailer you have would be my advice.

Should be on the rating tag, if not what brand / model / single axle / tandom is it ?
Guessing a trailer for a 20 foot I/O would be in the 800 lbs. to 1000 lbs. range.

I agree, go to a truck stop and throw it on the scale. i've done it for all of my boats. I'd guess around 800-1000lbs as well.

Sorry the boat and trailer are up north, so I just got up there this past weekend.  The trailer didn't have a trailer weight just a max capacity of 5000 lbs.  Model is GL205XL40.  I tried looking this model up and didn't find anything.   It is a tandem

Typical tandem axle with 5-bolt rims is max rated at 7K lbs, more often 6K lbs(using 3000 lb axles).    Your trailer being rated at 5K, constructed of steel would place its weight circa 1000 lbs.   To know more precisely would require a scale or a call to the trailer manufacturer.   Curious to know why the trailer weight is important to know?   Some folks its the tow vehicle capacity, others its the licensed weight their tow vehicle is plated for.   For the most part, no one seems to notice the recreational folks.   Slap a DOT tag on your door and people will notice if something doesn't look right.

You could do a Google picture search for trailers that look very close to yours, would bet Glastron didn't make it.
Go to there web site and find spec's ...
1000 lbs. is pretty close.
