Not Glastron related
« on: September 04, 2018, 09:10:21 AM »
Spent a day at Pioneer Village, haven't been there since I was a kid.  Had a collection of old snowmobiles.  Not much snow here to need one, but I've heard a few folks up north talk about them.  Thought I'd post a couple picks.  Learned that Ski Doo was originally Ski Dog, but a typo happened at the patent office, so it became Ski Doo instead.  Well, that's what the sign said.  The third picture is a folding boat, what a neat idea for a small lake, forms a trailer for road use.  Never seen one before.

It is a neat place. I have not been there since I was a kid. Happy to see things are still kept in good shape. I know a few years back Pioneer village was on the verge of shutting down.

Sorry Jason, I'm not very knowledgeable when it comes to sleds, saw a few polararis, ski Doo, artic cat, names I recognize, but a few I've never heard of.  I'm more a car guy, and they had a barn full of cars I've never heard of.  If you want to see it all, it takes about 6 hours to walk through it all.  Harold passed in 94 I think, and there was talk of shutting it down.  They also had racks of early outboards, aircraft engines, and lots of farm gear.  It is an amazing collection inspired by one person.

This person compiled a list of all the snowmobile manufacturers. How many are on the list?  I count approximately 230. I remember when John Deere, Johnson, Evinrude, and Mercury made them.
