Title: River Run Saturday or Sunday 7/14 or 15

I am free either day. I would love to head out on one of our beautiful rivers. I am open to suggestions.

Wanted to take Thur. off work and do some prop testing on the river but boss said "NO" ...

I went and ordered some 3 in tubing from the parts store. I will have it tomorrow so should be able to get it done.

Post by: Jason on July 09, 2012, 10:05:37 PM: Dave, rivers are great. No major rain in a while means rivers are on the decrease which mean debris is getting hung up on the shores. I walk by the mississippi in So St. Paul 3 times a day and it's been looking great. Of course, the St. Croix is always clean, but I would rather hit up the Mississippi anyway. St. Croix is getting really busy.

Post by: David CVX-16 on July 10, 2012, 07:51:37 PM: I would prefer the Lions Leevee at St. Paul Park. The 494 Bridge ramp has big rocks on the beach which make some gouges in the bottom of my boat late last fall. The Lions Leevee ramp has that big drop off after the concrete though.

My two sons and daughter-in-law may come. Ursala's maiden voyage in my V-153 on the St. Croix two years ago was in the punchered hull and we were lucky to limp back to the boat ramp. My have to use the Raker 20" rather than the 22" Raker because of the weight of passengers.

I'm schedualed to re-sheetrock my buddy's cabin that flooded a few weeks back, however he just recieved word that his uncle has passed away so construction might be halted for this weekend.

If that is the case, My wife, the 2 kids, myself, and maybe the dog are in.

I'm out, I'm going to sheetrock for the evening, I'll probably be out somewhere on Sunday though.

Not me! I'm running a 6 blade 19P ~~Plastic~~, oops...sorry fancy talk time 'Composite' prop.

Kip loves the Merc High 5 Prop on his. I'd like to try a 4 Blade 21P or 23P and see what that would for hole shot...and maybe Kips prop sometime as well.

I am running a Laser II 23pitch, Have not tried out to much in props but I did have a Mirage on it for a while but the Laser worked out better.

Would let you try out the Laser but my boat will be up in Detroit Lakes for the next 2 weeks. I have a 25 pitch Laser II , but I think it would be to much.

Doran you just need to try it on a lake you know and then no-worries about banging it up. We'll talk at the meet in August. Hoping I can get the same spot I had last year.

I'm busy this weekend but the CVX18 fired right up this week and ran like a champ in the driveway. So it will be ready for the meet if nothing else.

Unfortunately the pontoon (and the lift) got lifted out of the water and landed upside down on the dock, so I guess I'll HAVE to take my glastron up. ;D

We went down to the Hasting dam then up to the Ford dam.
Jason and I stoped for gas at the IGH gas dock ... Dave thought he could make it ... he all most did ...

Shawns motor was runnin funny so he went home before we went to St.Paul.

Post by: David CVX-16 on July 14, 2012, 08:53:54 PM: Wonderful boating trip that used all of my 18 gallons. The VRO is disconnected and back to mixing gas and oil. Like Gregg said, he and Jason bought gas at the Watergate Marina in St. Paul, but I was going to push my luck. Did not make it. Jason towed me for about 2-3 miles with the current back to the boat launch. Thank you Jason. "No one left behind." Motor ran well with the 20" Raker - 50 miles per hour with three people and full tank of gas at 5,200 RPM. Gregg's 22" Laser II ran about 52 MPH. Not many boats on the river. It was hot and sweaty. After the river run, eat in the shade in the launching park. Could not find a nicer group of people who are so open minded and tolerant of outboard motors of another color.

With me are my two sons, Paul and Philip.
