Mercruiser trim switch question
« on: March 10, 2012, 08:36:00 PM »
The only way I can trim up the stern drive is with the combination of the regular trim switch an the up/out switch. Does any one have an idea on how to fix that issue so I can just use the trim switch while at crusing speed?

Yep ... you can adjust the trim limit switch on the drive, the starboard side, to limit the trim where ever you want it.

Your trim limit sensor or wires on the drive are probably bad or broken.
There are two wires in the trim harness bundle near the trim pump that go through the transom assembly to the trim limit sensor on the drive. One is blue and the other purple. At the point where they connect near the trim pump and turn into a pair of black wires unplug them and then make up a jumper wire to connect the purple and blue together to each other. This will bypass the trim limit function, eliminating it from the circuit.
