Wow, just saw this.  What a great opportunity! Let us know how it went.  Shipwreck did a beautiful job on my brothers green CV-16SS.  Very nice people too.  And Express Composites is another great company to work with.

That CVZ is beautiful, did they get it sold yet?

I am really leaning towards that color for our CVZ project

Here are a couple shots from today. Scott told me that the CVZ is a customer boat. Back in the shop this Spring for some engine work. I think it was last year's CV-19 that was for sale at the 2017 Winter Boat Show.

Good to see you guys today. In addition to Scott McInnes's expertise, Del VanEmmerik and Lee Wansgtad were also there. Del is a master fiberglass boat restorer and Lee is an expert historian and writer on early fiberglass boat companies.

It is really awesome that they are doing this, a sharing of knowledge.  Most companies are hoarders of this knowledge and think to let it out is to lose revenue.  I on the other hand, realize I am not a painter or gel applicator and would take my boat there for repairs if the day ever comes.

Impressive.

Hi Everybody,

A reminder that the final Winter Workshop for 2018 is just over a week away, April 28th at Express Composites. You are all welcome to join us at this event. Details and RSVP contact information is in Gregg's original post.

The $10.00 fee covers morning coffee and lunch, The RSVP is just so they know how much food to provide. They always get a little extra so even if you feel like you can't commit, you can still come.

BSLOL sent out a email reminder today, not too late to sign up.

Hi All!!

Spring is upon us and the water is melting (not quick enough).  We wanted to send out a quick final reminder via email for the final winter workshop of the year.
This is going to be a another good one so do not miss it.

Jim Swanson, owner and founder of Express Composites, will host this seminar on what his company can offer regarding composites, reinforcements, core materials, abrasives and oh, so much more. Whether you are a vintage wooden boat restorer, a fiberglass restorer or starting a new build from scratch using a contemporary plan, there is something here for you. Jim has spent over forty years building, restoring, racing (did I mention RACING) and generally hanging out with boats. This will be a fun filled session - and with a little encouragement, he may even tell you about flipping his dad's Ventnor! Bring your questions with an open mind, he'll have a lot (and multiple) answers for you.

Workshop Agenda:
 - Genesis of Express Composites
 - Panels to Laminate (each attendee will do an actual lay-up)
 - Finish sanding - polish
 - M-1 sample and calculator
 - 820 vs ProBuild
 - Fabrics / Resin Types
 - Core process / samples
 - Vac bag process
 - Hook 'n loop backer for self-built longboard

Bring your own chair!

Doors open up at 9am for coffee and doughnuts - seminar starts at 10am.
