Not strictly glastron...
« on: July 20, 2018, 01:09:55 PM »
Hi all been very quiet I know between sorting house move car repairs etc the boats have fell to the wayside. Anyway was looking forward to taking the regal out tomorrow not sure why but I tilted up the drive (alpha one) to see how many weeds had made homes on it as I tilted it up I saw water exiting where I don’t think it should - is this a problem? Or am I reading too much into it?

Cheers

I doubt it's an issue where it's at.  You could put the boat out, and check the lower unit lube for water.  Poor outdrive could stand a bath for certain.

Yea she is real grubby - I’m not complaining but we’ve had 2 solid months no rain 25+ degrees which is awesome for boating however negative is the crap grows around. I can’t pull her easily at the moment but going to get a pressure washer on the drive this weekend! Hopefully it’s ok if not longs it doesn’t die she will be out in a couple of months!

Muriatic acid works great for removing this if the pressure washer alone does not get the job done.

I have worked on drives that had antifouling paint on them.  Works great for drives that sit in the water full time.   Can't put the drive up either, seen where critters will chew the belkiws, then the boat sinks.  Otters maybe?

This does a great job to decalcify drives while leaving the paint finish.  Its also an acid wash but I didn't notice any etch of the finish using it.

Yep - On/Off works good. Cleans the fiberglass great and will get the drive looking like brand new in no time as well. Run through that routine every fall with my cruiser.
