And here I thought the buttocks was where Forest Gump was shot?   That's a lot of odd terms, mostly pertaining to wooden ships.  Honestly, I had to look up why a garboard drain is called what it is when I wanted to add an oil drain.

3 weeks done and 3 weeks to go. Got a 90 on the first quiz and 98% on the 2nd quiz.  One more quiz, a final exam, need to write up 2 surveys, and then the ABYC certification test on the last day.

There is a lot I have learned so far. I will be making some changes to both my boats because of some of the things that I have learned. Any one interested in this field I would recommend coming to Chapman School Of Seamanship. Think of them as the Harvard or Yale of surveying schools.
I think this has become an addiction.

Even with your fancy title, everyone on the internet will still know way more than you.  Sorry.

Doran that is so true. Kind of like wasting money coming here, when I could of just asked questions on Facebook to find out the answer.

No cheating answer these questions with out using google.

Here is one I see a lot. How many terminal ends are allowed to be on one battery post?

What is the largest gauge wire you can use for battery cables and still use wing nuts to secure the terminals on the stud?

Aluminum anodes are for________ water.

Those are good and difficult questions, I would need to consult the Internet to find out myself.
But it’s more than just having information at your fingertips, sure if I’m doing something for me I can find out what I need to find out and I have the ability to use that knowledge, I’m still not accredited in anyway shape or form so therefore that information in of it self doesn’t go any further than my own personal use, that’s what this is all about.

Here's my guess.

Wing nuts are no longer allowed.

                       5 terminals on 1 stud

                       zink for salt water
                       aluminum  for fresh
                       magnesium for brackish water

Here is one I see a lot. How many terminal ends are allowed to be on one battery post? 4 terminal ends on a battery post is the max. You can have more then 4 wires just not more then 4 terminals. If you have more then 4 you will need to combine some into one terminal.

What is the largest gauge wire you can use for battery cables and still use wing nuts to secure the terminals on the stud? If you are using wing nuts on a battery terminal you have to use 8 gauge or smaller. Anything that is 6 gauge or bigger you have to use a regular stainless nut to fasten them.

Zinc anodes are for SALT water.
Aluminum anodes are for Brackish water.
Magnesium anodes are for Fresh water.

By the way I would have only got about half the answers correct 2 weeks ago.
I think this has become an addiction.

Thanks for providing us with some brain exercise. Could you throw us a couple questions like this a couple times a year to keep us on our toes?
