'89 16CSS swim ladder mod
« on: November 06, 2019, 12:25:58 PM »
Wifey enjoys skiing behind the 16 but has a difficult time boarding using this not so telescoping swim ladder.  Any good solutions out there or easy mods I can do to extend it a little? Would hate to remove and replace with a new system since I'll have the holes to deal with.  Don't see any new products that will easily adapt.  The new telescoping ladders tubes are wider at the top so they won't fit into the existing pivot fitting.

I thought of just getting some 7/8" stainless tube, cut the existing ladder mid way, and fit a couple pieces on either side to extend it.  I think if it would extend about 4 or 5 more inches down into the water would make a bid difference.

I had the same issue with my 16, my cvz has two steps.  Overtons has extensions that slip on.  Otherwise a telescoping unit could be modified to fit the existing holes

If I'm driving I usually walk to the stern and extend a hand to help skiers board. If I'm boarding I place one foot on the cavitation plate, the other on the ladder and then pull on the rope from the pylon to get in. I'm not as limber as I once was.

This Garelick ladder stows pretty easily for gunwale boarding. I haven't tried one on a Carlson though.
