I was planning on leaving my boat in the water for a few days, and according to the weather, there was supposed to be some thunderstorm action.
With the rain coming in, I wanted to cover my boat, but didn't know what to do about dock protection. How would I clip on fenders with the cover in the way?
(As an aside, is it just me, or is it a struggle to protect a CVX-18 from dock rash??)
Thought you would all enjoy this solution to keeping the boat away from the slip. One side has the bungie-style dock lines, and the other side has regular dock lines.

Id pull it out of the water. It may get beat up badly.

No boat is immune from dock rash, the best protection is to put it on the trailer I suppose. I've noticed on the St Croix that boats are moored using long flexible rods to keep the boat away from the dock. On the river, folks use the current to let the craft ride in the middle. From your pictures, it appears to be a lake without currents? Looks like a decent way to tie up. A possible option might be tieing the bumpers to the dock instead of the boat.

You can safely do what you've done there...just give the boat enough slack to drift around in the slip without being able to hit the dock.

Or get swamped by not being able to ride up enough...

I suspect this is an example of what happens when there isn't enough slack for the boat to float around a bit. Maybe some of the St. Croix boaters know more about this : https://minnesota.cbslocal.com/2020/09/06/trump-boat-parade-on-st-croix-river-causes-capsizing/
