Glastron Again!!!
« on: July 25, 2021, 09:29:15 PM »
New member.
Bought a C500 with 115 Evinrude new in 1981 and owned it for 15+ years. Awesome boat!
Missed that classic look, style and performance.
Just bought a 1976 CV 16 with 1150 merc.
Ironically both boats are the same color Blue/Blue.
CV 16 looks to be original. Last registration expired in 2000.  The floor is BAD. I suspect the transom will have issues also.  Good projects for the winter.
Looking forward to information and advice from this forum!

Welcome!

That will be a nice winter project and a CV16 is pretty manageable.

Here is a short synopsis of my floor:

NICE !   8)
Even original vinyl !

My transom had rot where the speedo tube came out and soaked down and over to drain hole.
It also had the entire left side rotted behind floatation foam box on left side.
Water must have gotten behind wood where the fiberglass transom flairs out, as the foam was dry ..
My stringer was fine, except where it V's for bilge bowel, with unsealed drain holes.

Jason (Red 1976 CV16) and myself and a few other CV's have crack in hull in lowest chine near stern of boat.
You might want to add some extra fiberglass in this area while you have the floor removed.
