New USCG Regulations.
« on: April 18, 2022, 03:52:57 PM »
Just in case you guys are not up on the new regulations.

The US Coast Guard has changed the laws on the Engine Cut off switch and Fire extinguisher requirements.

If your boat is equipped with the engine cut off switch (ECOS) it is now required that you wear the lanyard while opening at any speed above no wake speed.

Fire extinguisher changes. If your Extinguisher is older than 12 years it needs to be replaced. Boats 26' and under, The size requirement has changed to 5-B or 10-B you need one of them. If over 26ft you will need two 5-B's two 10-B's or one 20-B.

Here is a link to the USCG.

I think this has become an addiction.

I wonder whether this applies to MN lakes where enforcement is primarily from the county sheriff?

I don't have room for a 5B on my 16', I guess I need to find room. I do have two of the previously approved ones on board though...

I'm curious of this too.  Seems like Lake Minnetonka may be more aggressive then others.

What part of MN are you at?  I'm in Chaska
