Brought it home for a 2024 project. Got it in the garage and started to tear it down. Need to remove the o/b then a little surgery and the top should be able to come off.
-
Looks like it's in decent shape, or are there issues that can't be seen. Anyway it looks to be a nice winter project.
-
That motor would be perfect for a GT150 8)

That's one heck of a big stringer !
-
It has four stringers, those are the inside ones, there is still about 4 inches of them left in the hull, had to cut them out to access the outer two stringers to get them separated from the cap. For the most part, the stringers are good, the rear section of the outer stringers the bottom was rotten, and the foam is wet.

Stringers and transom out

Ready to start grinding

Fun Deck grinding booth ... ;D ;)
-
Not so fun deck. Man, don?t you ever tire?

Did a little grinding tonight. One more night and the worst is over.
-
Grinding is done. Started to fab up transom and stringers
-
2center stringers
-
Then 2 outboard stringers.
The original stringers were made out of 3/8 plywood. Went with 1/2 marine grade as it is in stock at Menards.
Could get 3/8 but it would be special order and the same price as 1/2.
-
What are you going to power it with Jeff?

It was a ob. Converting it over to a I/o. Using a 3.0 Ltr 140hp mercruiser.

Stringers and transom ready to glass in.
-
Amazing progress, keep up the good work!
-
Jeff ,
Great progress!
Will be fun to see how you fit the stern drive in it and finish off the engine compartment.
It looks to me like the deck and hull of the Fundeck came out of the exact same molds regardless if they were outboard or sterndrive powered.
-
Kip that was my thought also. That?s why I wanted to go with a I/o. Plus going to make the motor mounts that will allow a 4.3 or a 350 if a change needs to be made
-
Yes, a 350 with through hull exhaust!

WOW! You're not wasting any time.

Thanks to Joe Bigalow the wood is all in the bottom of the hull.
-
NICE !
-
Thanks to Joe we were able to get the top flipped over and the old decking removed and ready for the new under deck
-
Hanging
-
Getting the cart ready. We put 3/4 osb on top of the 2x6 so everything is flat
-
The wood 3/8 plywood was bonded with some filler that they use on the transoms. Everything was sanded then filled most all the voids.
-
Coremat then plastic core going down
-
Then over the top with csm
-
Deck has a layer of csm and tied into gunnels with 2 layers of 1808. Manage to go thru 5 gallons of resin today.
-
Great progress Jeff!
When you're done with it, the Fun Deck will be a better built boat than when it left Glastron's factory.
-
I really admire people that can do things like this, that intimidate me (my boat needs a floor).
-
Great progress Jeff and team. 5 gallons of resin in a day, how do you keep the smell out of the house? Can't wait to see it, hopefully in August?
-
Tops back on the bottom. Still need to raise it one or more times to get it to fit right. Some of the stringers are just a little high. Won?t take much.
-
Started in on fabrication of the engine hatch. Mocked up with ply first then started making out of composite
