Anodes for fresh water MC1 (Pre-Alpha)
« on: July 24, 2024, 11:18:02 AM »
Hey everyone - The stainless prop and trim ram rods on my 1979 Mercruiser 140 in my CVX16SS get pretty calcified after a few days (literally 3) in the fresh water of the lower Colorado River, specifically Martinez Lake.
I have the fin and the two lower bolt covers, they show no signs of wear or that they are taking the brunt of anything. From my understanding, these are the only anodes I can add to my drive. Any insight as to if I need to change them or add more or do something to the drive to prevent this? Its only the stainless that sits in the water the whole time.
Thanks in advance!

I've heard around marina's with lot of boats .. you get more electro .. whatever it's called .. Merc used to make some kind of electro thing to help .. but that was 20 years ago .. so not sure if they still do.
Sorry not much good info ..
