After raising the motor on the jackplate, I got 67 mph gps. Here is the kicker, I had my 200 pound plus cousin in the boat and 2 extra 5 gallon gas cans, and a large cooler with three 5 pound bags of ice, a 12 pack of bottle beer (my cousin drank a few of those, I have a thing about not drinking while operating a boat) some water, dews etc...  Easily 300 extra pounds of weight in the boat. The best thing was the boat was very very controllable at speeds over 60. I am pretty happy with todays results!

Without the extra pounds, 70 MPH or more are attainable. What prop are you running and what are the RPM's?

Running a 26 inch 4 blade BRP RX prop. RPM was around 5000, going to try a 24 inch next weekend to get the R's up a little more.

3 Allisons, an Action, and a Talon. And poor Quentin's red Hydrostream that he couldn't make run, again.

It was a little disconcerting to see how at home Doug was running the old Glastron....lol. And I promised I would say "you were right Doug, that is the right prop for the boat". Boat did go faster and was much easier to steer than the 4 blade 24 through all RPM ranges. Thanks Doug!

I'm glad you like the prop. Think it's just about right for the boat.

Ah good, I masked my fear well ...

No kidding. Barely even making waves. Guess need the boat in the water to do that.

So a CVX-16 with a 150 HP Evinrude can go 71.4 MPH, just as fast as an Intimidator with a hopped up 350 - 400 HP engine, and handles nicely in doing so. I bet that Ron's boat can go even faster with some more prop experimentation. Heard Tom Brown went about 90 MPH in his CVX-16 with a Mercury 225 HP but it was almost uncontrollable. Tom reworked his pad, but as I understand it, would not have modified it if he had to do it over.

Didn't TAZ do 87-89mph?  I will be reworking my timi hull, and building a shorter drive.  Hoping to hit 75-80.  Thought Tim hit  upper 70's last year at TI?  Personally I'd take a 20 doing 75 over a 16 doing the same speed.

Safe bet David. I'm thinkin a chopper. For now I suggested whackin an inch of pitch outa the Raker to get him closer to the limiter. (6100 rpm)

We were carryin a fair amount of fuel. Well as Ron's cooler, toolbox, etc. And his silly speakers and amp and such ...

I don't think 75 is too far fetched.

Handles great. Did get a lil squirrely once when I backed outa it too fast. But I'm blamin that on a sticky control lever ... It really is!

Smooth out the hull, and raise the X dimension. Bingo! Oh, and add hp ...

Understand Ron'n Mark spent alotta time on the bottom, and it shows. Cruises effortlessly @ 55. And the dang Etec's so quiet you can carry on a conversation. It's a really nice setup.

Way to go Ron!!!
