Title: Gelcoat Help
Post by: jhetrick55 on July 17, 2020, 04:03:31 PM
Hey everyone, I would like to fix some gelcoat issues over the winter on my '72 V-176 Swinger, avocado and sand colored. I am having a hard time tracking these down. Does anyone know where I can find those colors?

Thanks in advance!

None of the gel charts I have go back that far.

Spectrum didn't list colors that far back either .. Maybe call them and see if they could help
https://spectrumcolor-com.3dcartstores.com/

You could try a gel coat patch kit and try to mix to the color you need ..

Or ..
Try Shipwreck .. They might be able to mix up a custom batch in that color.

I purchased gel coat from express composites in Minneapolis Mn.

They do have several color charts that hopefully you could find a match, they mix the colors on site.

Other wise you would have to get something close and tint it to the existing color.

There are several shop that might color match for you or will do the work.

Thanks Greg,
yeah I saw that in the P.I.G; red and WHITE for 85.... not sure how they called that white. Looks a lot like the "taupe" in 84 on the chip chart. And my metal flake is kinda Coral...

Brochures are often wrong.
Or a boat was ordered like that.
