Okay David. Max GPS speed recorded: 0 mph. Sigh. Hope to up that significantly on Sunday ...

Doug, I may have cheated posting the 52.9 MPH with my boat. This spring when the river was swift (still is) the GPS said about 2.4 MPH with the boat not started (floating). That may have happened during the speed runs on the St. Croix two years ago. Guess we should require a two way average to correct for water currents and wind.  Oh well, we have lots of fun.

You "may" have cheated!? [Sobbing] How could you do that to me?! To us!?

Oh well. Yes current is a factor. Flashing back to Buffalo decades ago, The Niagra River can be moving up to 6 or 7 mph. Depending on how much flow is allowed over the falls. Gives ya a great advantage headed downstream ...

Well guess what guys. The maiden voyage didn't last very long. S'pose you might call it a 'wash out'. Literaly. No sooner did I drop it in the water when I noticed a leak around the port motor bolt. Sigh ...

Goddang it! Why can't my crack mechanic, who's supposed to know what he's doing, mount a freakin' outboard without it leaking through the bolt holes? Aie carumba ...   I am pissed!

I do not blame you for your frustration Doug. This is "Outboard Mounting 101", keeping the water out of the transom so that the transom does not rot in X years.

If you want it done right, you have to do it yourself.

Ain't that a fact Dave. My bad.

For what it's worth it looked really nice sitting in the water. But for the few brief seconds I was aboard I didn't like it at all. Besides the leak ...

Very little room to move. Felt a lil claustrophobic tbh. Hoping it grows on me but you don't get on this boat, you get in it?

Sorry no pics. Got a lil distracted when I saw water running into/down the transom ...

My little Celica is hard for this old man to get into and out of too. Its been called a go cart. I got used to the lack of room inside. Our other car is a Ford Crown Victoria.

Well the boss gave me the day off cuz it's my bday. So I hauled the boat all the way down to my mechanics shop this AM. Prepared to tear him a new one. Only to discover the sob's on vacation for the next two weeks. Arrgh! Y'know I'll tell ya sometimes it just doesn't pay to get oughta bed in the morning.

Oh well. Figger whilst I'm sealing & re-installing the motor bolts I'll change out the splashwell fittings. They're getting brittle & starting to disintegrate. Gonna go ahead'n put a Garboard fitting in the hull drain too. There's a crappy looking epoxy "repair" down there.

Sucks big time about the leak Doug but I guess now that you'll be doing it yourself, you'll know how much is in there.
Happy B day by the way.
I've been getting AARP stuff for several years. Got something just last week. I am no where near retiring! Go away!

The problem with mounting an OMC yourself, is you really need a drilling jig to get the holes in the right place.  I use Marine-Tex epoxy in the holes.

Thanks y'all. Yup I been gettin AARP stuff for years. My Dad never, ever lived at this address & has been dead for 5yrs but I still get mail addressed to him!? WTF?!

Here's a little method I've come up with to at least somewhat reduce the amount of junk mail I recieve: If a postage paid return envelope is provided with the package simply stuff everything from the origional incoming letter into the envelope & mail it back. If they continue to keep sending you unsolicited offers stick a cigarette butt or soiled band-aid or mebbe a dead lizard in the return envelope. This will usually get their attention ...

I sometimes do this myself.

I don't smoke, and I've never seen a lizard up here by Canada.

I didn't ask because I might want to find a place to hide it, but I would guess it's reasonable.

That is one of the few real "collector" Glastrons. It should be at Red Wing Sunday. He's going to the Drags Saturday.
