OEM...its a Metalflake Bronze color cover from a 1979...so it doesn't quite match, but I don't care...I consider myself very fortunate to have it!

I have some cleaning to do and getting it to fit properly.

Express Composites has metalflake now. $22 for 8oz, goes in the clear, and then clear over it.
Don't ask how I know that.

I'm trying, odds are 60/40 that I'll be there...increasing as we get closer.  I'll know on Friday.

The closer I get the more ansty I get.

Jerry - I need to change the base gelcoat to match...maybe that's what you were talking about?

The flake is the color, Jerry is correct you mix it with the clear and spray it on till you get even coverage then about 5 to 10 coats of clear depending on what product you go with. Auto clear coat will use about ten coats with wet sanding in between each coat and gel coat will use about 5 maybe less with wet sanding in between each coat.

Yeah, I have no idea on how the color process works...I thought the gel was the 'gold' with metal flake buried in it and then lots of clear...but sounds like that's not how it works.

I have lots to learn about finishes.

Cleaned up a little bit tonight.  But...the McD's thick front seats will have to come out in order for the cover to sit correctly:

I like the hoods for the cvz, Im not a fan of open bows but if I were to get one it would only be a cvz, actually I would mind adding one to the collection. I think its a great idea that you could have it both ways. I think Shorty found the site for flake and its on the vendors list and they have orignal colors of flake for most vintage g/c, I did find the green I need for the 19. Anyway it looks great, cant wait to see the finished peice.

Looks great Doran! Nice find. Now you really have the best of both worlds when it comes to open and closed bows.

Very, very cool Doran. Imo CVZs are rare enough. Cain't think of another Carlson bowrider?

Cover makes it all that much suweeter. Color's close enough for now ...

Outstanding find!

Glad you're happy with it Doran! Couldnt think of a better home for it, or anywhere it would be more appreciated... I think it's in good hands! Make sure we see some water pics with it once you get it mounted, or of course, at the meet. Enjoy!
