Converting Roller Trailer to Bunks
« on: October 28, 2019, 01:36:27 PM »
Hey all! I've seen a number of posts on here and on Facebook about converting those dreaded roller trailers to have bunks. I thought I would share what I did with mine.
The trailer itself is kind of neat in that it has a pivoting rear cross beam, Shoreland'r calls it Equiload Support System. It pivots to form to the hull, to make sure all of the wheels make good contact with the hull. So I wanted to keep that same concept for the bunks.
I picked up some 1/2" galvanized conduit pipe clamps and 1" lag screws. Along with some pressure treated boards. Reused some carpet I had pulled from the boat and some stainless steel staples. I think it came to around $60. Pretty easy switch and it now offers MUCH more support to the hull of the boat.

Looks good, interested in seeing how it holds up over time.
