engine flame/spark arrestor plastic cover

Saw an older Carlson similar to mine and it had a black plastic cover with Mercruiser 260 V8 Alpha One decals on it. Looked "finished" compared to mine. Should my 85 CVX18 have had one?  See them out there for sale but......

This is not a picture from my boat but my 86 260 has this same cover.

I had a boat with a 1987 / 88 Merc 350 Mag with carb cover, should fit your motor.
The new ones with flames look cool but don't know if they fit older motors ?

Just a cosmetic item, the actual safety device, flame arrester, is under that.  Somewhat surprised someone hasn't made a CNC milled cover with Gladtro/Mercruiser emblums and such on it.  Would make a nice dress up on stock engine.
