I'm from west central MN nearby Alexandria (on Lake Amelia specifically). I am a 21 yo electrical engineering senior student at the U of MN. I was hoping to get to the meetup last summer, but just didn't quite have things ready on my boat.
I was given my boat by my dad several years ago. My dad bought the boat about 5 years ago for dirt cheap, since the last owner left the plug in and the boat filled with water on the trailer and cracked the hull in a few spots and of course rotted. Over the past few summers I've done a ton of restoration work on the weekends after my internships (had to make a 2 hr one way drive each weekend just to work on it). I replaced the entire transom, entire stringer, and the floor up to the footboard with composite materials. Still a lot of little things left but it's ready to go functionally. Motor in the photo is an old '78 115 Chrysler, but it has since been replaced with an '88 125 Force in much better shape.
I'm guessing I'm one of the younger boat owners on this page. I've actually already done several restoration projects starting from when I was 17, including an old lathe, a vintage garden tractor, and a few sailboats. But the Glastron is definitely my favorite project, especially since my late grandfather's boat was a cvx-16. My grandpa always loved how they handled like no other boat he had driven.
