Off Topic - 2020 Corvette
« on: November 23, 2019, 04:58:16 PM »
The production run of the 2020 Corvette has been filled up. You had to sign up about 9 months ago, and when your turn to order comes, you can build your car. Apparently, your place in line can be sold to others - for a price. On e-bay, this place in line bidding is $49,900 over the car's list price. Kerbeck, the highest volume dealer of Corvette, is already taking orders for the 2021 Corvette.

Ad from e-bay:

"Hello thanks for checking out my 2020 corvette c8 allocation! This car is a first run production, from a premier dealership ! Locked up my spot at Chevrolet and the dealership months ago. The car can be built to any Specifications you desire! The amount you are bidding on is the amount over MSRP. Bid with Confidence I’m along time EBay buyer and seller with years of experience. I also Reserve the right to end auction early, I have it posted locally as well. Good luck happy bidding ! Will consider all serious offers . Amount to be paid in full in 7 days . Any questions feel free to call 267 394 2378. Thanks Rich"

Just read Car and Driver's review of the 2020 Corvette. They like it, and a bargain at the base price of $60,000.  0 - 60 in 2.8 seconds, and 1/4 mile in 11.2
seconds.

In my teenage years, the Corvette was the car to drool over. My neighbor subscribes to Motor Trend and Car and Driver, and then gives them to me to read. I spend about one-half hour reading each, and then throw them away. I find the exotic cars interesting and appreciate the engineering and the specs, but do not wish to ever get an expensive car. Allison boats and Corvette cars, exciting to drive, but not practical enough or inexpensive enough to purchase. This was my first new car, a 1969 Dodge Charger. Paid $3,400 new - wish I had it back.

C8's will be sticker price in a a short time.  Once they're available on dealer lots prices will come down...the Supra is already sticker or below.

C7 prices have dropped considerably since the C8 was announced...perfect time to pick one up.

The Corvette is losing more and more of its originality if you ask me. I prefer the good ol days.

I did not get one ticket with the Dodge Charger. I really was not that fast of a car with a 383 CI engine. Quality control was a problem with the Dodge - a lot of interior noise, always something going wrong. It was stolen at 50,000 miles and abandoned on the streets one week later. I sold it at that point for $1,400. Yes, Gregg, it was a lot of money back then, a new house in the suburbs was $28,000.

It is expected that the base price of $60,000 on the Corvette is going way up for 2021.

Kerbeck Corvette is offering $8,000 or more off 2019 Corvettes - here is their inventory.   https://kerbeck.com/new-corvette-inventory/

Gotta love corvettes!!   I started out with a corvettes in high school where I pulled one out of a junk yard and rebuilt my first one, a 73’ it was hit hard in the passenger side... wish I still had a picture..  I’ve had 9 of them and they all have been the best bang for your buck to this day.  Yes the 80’s lost there originality but they’ve come a long way Since  53’ .   The new ones are fantastic and I’d love to get one.. but I’m happy with my 05’ and use it more then all the old ones combined.  If you get one I highly recommend going to the museum..

I’ve always loved the old Corvettes; stunning lines on that machinery.

I’ve owned this 1966 Impala SS (original 396) since 1977, I was 16. I drove it for two years before parking it for 20 years and restoring it.  Eight warning tickets in high school (speeding, loud pipes, reckless, etc.), but no official citations. A different time, no doubt.

Did not see the movie, but just viewed the chase scene from the movie - great footage. The 440 c.i. would be much more powerful than my 383 c.i. 2-barrel. My Charger could lay down 2 strips of rubber from the start, but had no handling ability with its 7.00 x 15  Goodyear Power Streak 78 WW Bias-Ply. Radial tires were not an option.

I've always wanted a corvette, it has been on my bucket list for years.  I finally did it in August, I had a 10k budget, knew I wanted a c5, you get a lot of car for the money.  This one started at  12500 but I got it for 9k, only 78 k miles, a great service history, two tops.  It has been a lot of fun, my first gm car in 25 years.  It took me 53 years but I can check this one's off the LIST.  People who own Vetts really take care of them, this car has no issues and runs great, I would drive it anywhere.

It's red not pink btw.

Another old vette lover here, but now just a dream.

One thing I always wondered, why didn't the 58-62 years get their own C number?
And conversely, why all the new C numbers in the later versions?
