Well Well... I'm finally going to burn some gas! I see that a few people are considering the St. Croix on Sunday, so I thought I would start a thread on the topic.
I would like to get out there a little early since I don't feel like getting pounded going down river. I'm going to shoot for between 10am and 11am at the Hudson public ramp.
I've been kinda distant from the public eye on the board for a few months... I think that it's because of the "Silver Fox" needing the motor work, and then the whole "starting the adoption process" thing.
So, with all of that, I'm looking forward to getting out there again. I understand that it's Fathers Day and all, but the weather is supposed to be nice. Those of you that are fathers can say that it's what you want to do to celebrate!
Who's in? I know that there are even some new members that I don't know. (Shame on me). So, please let me know if and when so I can meet up with you!

Weather looks great for Sunday. We usually launch at St Croix Bluffs. Beanies is second choice. We plan to be out by 11am and go north.

I'll be on the St Croix Saturday 6/19 if anyone is interested.
Plan to launch at Hudson between 10 & 11
Headed for the 'Y' camp south of Hudson, then unsure.

I might make it out later Sunday afternoon or night. Got wedding stuff all weekend.
-
I'm headed out to Minnetonka here as soon sas my wife gets back with my two oldest for a Friday/Saturday overnight. So I might be push'in it with the spouse if I tell her I'm going boating w/CGOAMN club on Sunday even if it is Fahter's day.
and then the whole "starting the adoption process" thing.
Jeff had mentioned to me this week that you and Lisa we're starting that process. Awesome! Someday I may get on Facebook.
-
OK ...
Sunday at 10:30, Windmill marine, Half way between you guys.
-
If we bump into you, we will go north with ya... I don't go north too often because the big CVX-20 doesn't really like the no wake zones. Then again, I haven't had the boat out too much this year, so it might be nice to have the current to my advantage.
I got the boat all buttoned up tonight. I think that's what has been preventing me from wanting to go boating. I had to put the interior back in and I hate that job.
Anyway, it's purring like a lion and ready to go!
See you Sunday morning!
-
Sounds fun!
I'll be going to Back to the 50's today and family stuff tomorrow.
Dont get beat up too bad on the St. Croix!
-
I would love to go boating, but have around the house projects lined up. To those who are going boating, enjoy yourselves. To all the fathers, happly father's day.

No go for us Sunday on the river. Our maiden voyage tonight ended up with us being towed back to shore. Think we are overheating causing a vapor lock fuel problem. Don't know if we can find a thermostat on Sunday. Jumps to 180 deg quickly then climbs close to 240. May be poor circulation also. Time to troubleshoot.
Any thoughts??

I know mine is always around 140 never above 150. Which sems cool to me. Maybe you have a bad impeller in the lower unit. Does it overheat on muffs in the driveway?
-
Not sure you'd call it over heating, now That I slept on it. Consistantly at 180 then rises if idling on muffs or in water. I think the p/o put in an auto t- stat. Pulling it now.
Lower unit off to change the impeller? Had a Cobra that had a cover plate, changed in 5 minutes.

Hope it's an easy fix Allan ...
Any one else going ?

Any one else going ?
Gregg
I'll be there, can I borrow your GPS ?
- Jim
-
SURE !
Trying a new prop ?
-
I have a 20P SS from Steve i'm going to try.
Davids 19P SS / 48 MPH @ 4600 RPM - Speedo?
I'd like to compare my Speedo to GPS and see how far it"s off
-
Jim
What time will you be there ?
Which launch site ?
-
Davids 19P SS / 48 MPH @ 4600 RPM - Speedo?
Correction - 48MPH / @ 5600 RPM
Test with GPS - 48 MPH Speedo = 47 MPH GPS
-
Ever get her running right Jim? Did switching the props help or was it just not having me in the boat that helped?
-
Jim, Rachel and I were the only ones to make it today ...
Weather was nice, river wasn't to bad, had a great time !
-
Hey Gregg, what model is that Jim and Rachel have? (Looks very similar to my V178!) I like the bow cover, gives me an idea!?!?!? Nice boat too, BTW.
-
He has a 1977 SSV-176
-
Well, sorry I didn't make it. My brakes gave out in the truck this morning. On the way to the parts store, I backed into the drivers door of my wifes car...
I figured I sould just give up there and call it a day. Finished the brake work about 8pm. That's the way it goes. Sure was a nice day though.
-
Great pictures Gregg - Thanks ;D
-
Ever get her running right Jim?
Steve's 20P Laser II was too much prop - Put David's 19P and every thing was good.
I would like to try a small dia. 21P. I can't get rid of the hesitation from 1800 - 2200 RMPs
-
Jim,
Doesnt you motor like your 21 that you borrowed me? Have you sold that yet?
Per David, I think I need to try some more before I buy I guess.
Great pics btw. Look at all that sandy beach!
-
Nice pictures Gregg!
Too bad you didn't make it but you were probably right about stoping the bad luck there. I may be able to help with the door on her car. might be able to find a used replacement. www.car-part.com
Looks like you at least got her to plane out Jim!

Sorry, Tonka Jim, I'm kinda SLOW sometimes! Looks like y'all had a ball. Wish I were closer, I'm trying to swing a trip up to the big meet in 2011!
-
Looks like a good time. Great pics! Ya I'll say Jim was really haulin' the mail! That thing rides nice. Some respectable #s too. Sounds like a purty good prop match to me. Dunno if a smaller, taller wheel will buy you anything. But what the heck it's worth a try?
I doubt if any propeller will fix your hesitation problem. Could be wrong but that sounds like a fuel delivery issue. Mebbe go up a jet size?
Nice to see you guys out havin' fun. WooHoo!
-
Mebbe go up a jet size?
Steve was think'in the same thing, maybe some rainny day project.
-
Jim I had a new 2S carbed snowmobile years back that hesitated like a mother in the mid-range. I went down(leaner) 2 jet sizes. Polaris was known for jetting them fat so they made it through the warranty period. Anyways that completley ended the hesitation and it screamed after that. Just a thought.
