1975 Glastron Carlson CV 16 SS
« on: January 16, 2014, 10:02:40 AM »
The owner sent us an email wondering how much his CV is worth ....
I know it's hard to say with out a test drive and being able to look boat over ... But ...
Any one remember what Shawn got for his CV16SS ?

Any how ....

From Jim ...

She is all original and was owned by two meticulous individuals, the last one being my father (a perfectionist machinist).  She is a Glastron Carlson CV 16SS with the Mercruiser Sterndrive 140 hp engine (422hrs.).  The boat hasn't been in the water for about five and half years due to my father's failing health.  She has always been stored indoors and was trailered to the Ohio River.  To me,  it would make sense to pull the carb off and rebuild it and flush the fuel system due to the five yr. plus layoff.  We would be interested in what you think would be a fair price to my mother and also to the buyer.  She is interested in selling it and getting a little more room in the garage.

For right now these are the best pictures I have since my son's '70 Olds has me blocked in.  Again, boat is in south-eastern Ohio.  I can be reached at the email address or XXX XXX XXXX.  Thanks, Jim

Had my 80 16SS for sale this fall for $2000.00 and no one wanted it, but thats in the fall also.   I've even gone through the entire fuel system and its water ready, runs great.     Rough guess I would have to say 10K is high, but 5500-6000 in the right market might be appropriate.    Just my $0.02

I thought I recognized that boat. I'd say around 4K plus or minus $500. It is in really nice condition but those little 4 cylinder boats just don't bring a whole lot of money.

Yeah, I don't think you could get over $5k for a mint one...I think Kip's got the right price for the final sales price.

I am a little biased but I would say 5000-5500K if it's as good as it looks and mint. I would highly recommend getting it running, get it on the water, take some video of it going, and wait for the RIGHT buyer. It will be hard to get decent money for it without anyone knowing the real mechanical condition of the boat.

4cyl is true. But when you want a quick, reliable, simple platform that is sexy and you can pull with a midsize car you can't go wrong with a 140 powered CV16SS.  ;)

A whole lot like what I want.
I see he has it listed at 10K. More they twice what was suggested here.
Good luck with that.

I think this has become an addiction.

Ross,
That listing price was there before the question was asked. If someone was interested they should call and make a realistic offer. High listing prices at Brokerage sites is a bit of a controversy in the classic boat hobby. Many boats sell far short of the listed prices.

I could see 10k if it was a cv16v8 with a jet in it, those ar very few and far between. I did get 3500 for my 75 cv16 which was just like the one here a couple years ago..and as long as we're talking cv16's.. Is there anyone out there that has seen or know of where there is a cv16v8 jet ? I'd love to see one.

I don't think they ever made CV16 jet did they? The link Gregg posted looks like an OB boat that someone modified.

But its not Green!!!

Good catch.  Better get a boat with a 2-cycle outboard.  Two is less than four, so that must better for the environment.

Okay, I know, I know...  That is not much to go on.  Think about it...  A two-cycle fires the piston every stroke.  A four-cycle fires every other stroke.  Thus a two-cycle is more efficient, and efficiency is is a friend to the environment!
