Hello from Michigan!
« on: April 16, 2020, 06:39:41 PM »
Hi, I'm Andrew from Kalamazoo Michigan! I've been lurking around for a while, but finally decided to come out of the shadows. Last summer I bought a 74' CV-16SS off craigslist for $400. This will be my second boat restoration, but first Glastron. It was an all day trip to the Indiana/Kentucky border to get it. When I got it it was already pretty rough and somewhat disassembled. I have no original interior pieces, seats, etc... although I do have the dash (which is pretty badly mangled with cracks), and the engine cover (which I probably won't need). The boat appears to have sat outside in the sun for a very long time since pretty much everything is UV damaged, even the metal flake blue has faded significantly. Since then I have been making some pretty consistent progress, I gutted it to a bare hull, I have a new transom, bilge, motor mounts, and deck installed. Planning on re-gelcoating it once all the fiberglass work is done, not sure if I want to stick with factory colors or not. I plan on starting a restoration thread soon once I can get all the pictures off my phone... I decided to convert it to a V8 engine, not because it's practical, but because...well...because haha Hoping to try my luck at molding a bigger engine cover eventually. Anyways see you around the forum!

Welcome, glad you joined us.
It’s going to be great to see another Cv16 restoration and the V8 conversion sounds awesome.
Have you decided what you’re doing for power ?
