So this one shows up on GCOTD and I read the story "Nice Story", and look at the pictures and I find it difficult to believe owner did not know it was a 454 and a Bravo? Actually writes its a 350. Was 454 Bravo an option ?

To be honest...I couldn't tell just by looking at a solo block...maybe I could...idk. Could the cover just not be wrong?
-
Nope .. Guessing a 454 carb cover.
-
Well the valve covers are small block (305/350) or 4.3 V6 from the looks.
Yes just a carb cover swap. Hes being honest by saying its a 350.

Closer look, sure looks like an alpha, has "Power Trim XD" on the cylinder and water pickups, shape looks exactly like mine, except for the "braking bolts".

Kinda hard to tell on outdrive, but the valve covers look like SBC Vortec to me. Cover swap would be my guess, never seen a factory BBC in a 23. Honestly, I've never seen a factory BBC untill the CSS models in the later years. Merc did offered a BBC/Alpha drive combo, but not for very long. Even with the lower ratio, they couldn't handle the torque.

That's an SBC and an Alpha One.
