Well Laurie suggested that i spend my "recovery day" looking into the 1900. (yes i blame her)
and just as Rich discovered on the one he bought, its all rotten (i had hi hopes but in truth was just in denial)
i had said several times that if it were a total project i would switch back to the X-19 but after much thought, and Laurie "talking me down off the ledge" have come to the conclusion that this is gonna be the next project.
this is what the poor thing looked like when i started.

got the tank and about half the floor off before it started to rain yesterday.
interesting that its is constructed different than the old ones, the sides of the hull have 2 layers of glass/mat separated by a thin layer of foam (down to the floor) seen in the last 2 pix.
also seems that the foam used here don't soak up water as bad as the old ones, we will see for suer when i dig it out but it appears as only the top inch or so has water in it.

We had our first Little Falls meet and plant tour in 2005. I'm not sure when Irwin Jacobs bought Glastron and started making them in Little Falls, I think late 90's???

Not hi-jacked, Joe was talking about foam core, just adding to that.

i consider it an honor to get hijacked...
yes, 215hp Ford 302, early 70's from a sturey 18' was a 215E out drive.
will have an 888 out drive of similar vintage, and if the 215 don't work out i have a 188 that is also an option.
and if that don't work i will have to pull the 5.0 from my explorer

I believe it's called "Cored" , wrapping foam or wood in fiberglass.
Hydrostream hulls use it and some large yacht builder do it on cabin roofs.
Light and strong design.

Well...
if the first 2 days of 2015 are any indication this thing might get done.
floor is out, and front stringer sections.
stopped by express composites, spent $300.
they were glad to see the gift spreader, and the comment was made "I'm glad yer not puttin this stuff in a bayliner"
