Filled the blisters with Adtech R-14 as per Mark at express composites.
2 coats of epoxy primer and 1 coat filler/ primer. Sanded and ready to mask the swoop. Hope to paint it today.
The motor on the other hand...
I picked up a used 351, transom assembly and Outdrive out of a 79 Larson. Frost plugs were popped, and there was a small crack on the back of the block on the left side (I wasn’t too concerned as our current motor has the same crack).
New frost plugs and epoxy
Laurie found me a cradle at a garage sale for 20 bucks, so with a few modifications it now holds MerCruiser
And a test panel made from gauges out of a donor boat (tired of trying to do it all with Clip leads)
In an effort to test it in the garage, I limited the amount of cold water going in and also restricted the water going to the risers, in hopes of getting the motor warm and having pressure in the cooling system, and monitor this by placing a pressure gauge in one of the block drains.
I guess the process worked, after running it for a half an hour the oil is milky
.
When I get back to that part of the project, I will look at the spark plugs to see if by chance it’s a head gasket, if not I’ll change the oil and filter and try it one more time just in case there was some residual moisture in the motor that didn’t come out when I drain the oil (not likely but trying to stay optimistic here)
