I'm kinda surprised it fits in there?  Making her pretty for the Rathbun voyage?

Did you find the swoop underneath?  or just putting back as it should have been...

The second and third pictures show the edge of it.

I noticed holes along the lines of where the hull breaks, is there a second rub rail that goes there?  I remember hearing the engine had some issues to correct, oil leak?  Will you have to pull it to make repairs?  Maybe borrow the 1900 for the Iowa weekend if Bal harbor and gt are down?

These trim pieces go on there, not sure what they’re called.
Pull the motor out at the end of last season, never got a chance to work on it, picked up a different motor last week so we’ll see how that all plays out.
1900 is an option, maybe it’s a little sister all show up to say hi... @dorelse

Rathbun is possibly an option for a day trip for a shakedown run.   I only have that Sat free of the next 5 so we'll see if I can make it.  (I'd like to!)

Well no primer yet
I sanded all the paint off along the chines because it had a little blisters in it, I thought it was just a pain lifting because it sanded off flat. But when I wash the edge down with lacquer thinner so that the tape will hold  I got a bunch of wet spots.

I guess these would be them pesky osomic blisters, we went up to the farm last night with the intention of priming with epoxy regardless of what was there but I just couldn’t do it, so after a couple of hours with a razor blade a drill and a grinder they are all carved out.

Hopefully I can head back up with some resin and Cabosil to fill them all, and maybe primer by The Weeknd

Not sure if you know the full history, but was that in the water full time previously?  The thinner/solvent really showed where they were.   Did you notice any of the brown substance when you opened them up?  Sometimes a goo, other a powder depends on how long out out water.  That is the acid created by the reaction.  Good thing you caught it, it would have bothered you if you hadn't.

No goo, and no noticeable amount of pouder. I believe it did sit in the water for a long time but it has been out for at least 15 years

Filled the blisters with Adtech R-14 as per Mark at express composites.
2 coats of epoxy primer and 1 coat filler/ primer. Sanded and ready to mask the swoop. Hope to paint it today.

The motor on the other hand...
I picked up a used 351, transom assembly and Outdrive out of a 79 Larson. Frost plugs were popped, and there was a small crack on the back of the block on the left side (I wasn’t too concerned as our current motor has the same crack).
New frost plugs and epoxy

Laurie found me a cradle at a garage sale for 20 bucks, so with a few modifications it now holds MerCruiser

And a test panel made from gauges out of a donor boat (tired of trying to do it all with Clip leads)

In an effort to test it in the garage, I limited the amount of cold water going in and also restricted the water going to the risers, in hopes of getting the motor warm and having pressure in the cooling system, and monitor this by placing a pressure gauge in one of the block drains.

I guess the process worked, after running it for a half an hour the oil is milky .
When I get back to that part of the project, I will look at the spark plugs to see if by chance it’s a head gasket, if not I’ll change the oil and filter and try it one more time just in case there was some residual moisture in the motor that didn’t come out when I drain the oil (not likely but trying to stay optimistic here)

Might help to drain the oil into a pan to sit overnight and separate out.  If you pour it out carefully the next day you can get a rough idea how much water got in there.  Cracks are never good, hopefully it is simply a failed head or intake gasket.  Sparkplugs might help to show if water is entering the combustion chamber.  Wish I was there to help, but right now Tim and I are swamped with getting  his 23 ready for Rathbun.

Thanks, yes I will verify the amount of water also.

Well... the red is on
Unfortunately I got a little carried away and ran the first coat
So there will be some wet sanding involved. Also can’t put tape on the single stage paint for 12 hours so I’m done for the day

I thought I was saving time and money using a single stage paint, in retrospect base/clear is a much better option.
